Welcome to Nerfed Reflexes — where the reflexes may have slowed, but the passion for gaming never did. I’m Austin, a veteran gamer grinding through new worlds with slightly reduced stats and maximum sarcasm. Expect gameplay, commentary, and plenty of respawns. If you’ve ever stretched before queueing up, you’re in the right place.
I play mostly indie games, roguelites, rougelikes, idle, incremental games, clicker games, ARPGs, whatever.
If you're an indie dev that wants to reach out and have me cover your game, you can join the NerfedReflexes discord server and visit the "Pitch your game" section, or just email me; either works.
Chill channel, chill vibes and scuffed reaction times. Sit back, laugh, relax, and let me do all the talking. I do try to reply to every comment though, so feel free to pump up that engagement in the comment section. At the very least, I read every comment.
K, love you. Bye!

New editor is officially online! Watch the new vid and share your thoughts with me on the editing style. I've given him some of my own personal feedback already, but I'm curious as to what you guys think! Please let me know your thoughts below.
I will say that the game itself zoomed in every time you entered the shop between waves, so this may distract a bit from the actual editing style. Tomorrow's video should be a more accurate representation of the editors' flair, but we'll see. Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this video and tomorrows video as well. Stay tuned!

I have came to the conclusion that my biggest weakness is creating thumbnails, so I had an idea for a sort of "cheat code" so to speak. I have created a badge for the top-left corner of every thumbnail, and I'm going back and changing some as we speak. This way, there is no guess work. It seems like people that have found my channel, really enjoy the content, but because I'm so inconsistent with my approach to thumbnails, they don't know it's me and my packaging isn't interesting enough to deserve their/your click. Because of that, YT says, "Nah, this is garbage. I can't even notify your subs of this junk.
TLDR; if you enjoy what I do, be on the look out for this little guy in every thumbnail from now on.. or at least a while.

Channel Update:
Figured I'd post this here for more visibility, but I've made the executive decision to scale things back to 1 video per day. There will be no nightly upload today. I released my morning vid of OMR, and that will be it for today.
Reason:
My body is exhausted trying to keep up with two videos per day and I feel like my quality has suffered and I want to focus on that again. I also want to help my mom with her content, which will eat into what little time I have.
Future:
So, what can you expect from me? One video per day, (there may even be days where I skip an upload). I will focus on making editing cleaner. I'm still going to take the "more is less" approach, where it's not super edited. I love the current vibe of my content and the community built around it.
Side note: Some people have mentioned they were afraid that I'd "burn out" and quit. I've said it before and it's worth saying again. If I ever get the feeling that I'm burning out, then I'll dial things back a bit and focus on what's important. That's not where I'm at right now, I'm still not feeling "burnt out". It's just the season of too much stuff to do and not enough time. Being on 10 acres means there's 10 acres of grass that needs mowing, animals need care and attention, etc. Alright, enough rambling. Love you all. See you in discord chat, or in the comment section of the next upload.

New Giveaway has begun! If you haven't see this mornings video for Dicey Hacker, then check it out for details on how you can win one of 5 free copies the generous dev gave to us.
If you haven't seen this, it's 100% my fault. I am not great at making thumbnails.

🚨 Giveaway Alert! 🚨
The next video dropping tomorrow will include a Steam key giveaway!
Recently I’ve been talking with a few developers who have reached out about covering their games, and some of them have been kind enough to provide extra keys for the community. That means more chances for you guys to grab some free games while we check out new titles on the channel.
The first giveaway will be in tomorrow’s video, and I’ve already got another one lined up after that, so keep an eye out. 👀
Thanks for hanging out with me and supporting the channel — I’m excited to start sharing these with you all!

I'm thinking about mixing things up a bit on my channel, and I wanna know what you think...
The plan is 2 videos per day, BUT they're both on the same game, uploaded at the same time, but geared toward different viewers. Reason why I'm considering this at the bottom, but for now, the details:
Vid 1) Short, 5 minute video, showcasing the game I'm playing, and what is unique about it. What set's this particular game apart from the other's in it's niche.
Vid 2) The typical 20 minute to hour long format I've been doing.. my typical "Let's Play" videos.
Vid 1 will link to Vid 2. If the viewer is curious, they can watch more gameplay, and watch me fumble my way though figuring out the mechanics and just having fun.
Vid 2 will not link to Vid 1, because if you've already seen the long one, they're probably not much of a point in watching the first one..?
They will release at the same time, so I'm not sure how YouTube will handle notifications on this one.
Reason:
I've got a lot of comments from some people that were happy that my video wound up in their feed, introducing them to some cool/unique game, which is awesome... BUT, My average view duration is garbage, because these people watch 5 minutes of the video, then click away after they get introduced. This means YouTube will stop pushing my video out to a broader audience. I'm thinking that perhaps the 5 minute vid will give these guys exactly what they want.. a short introduction to some cool new game, without the need to doom-scroll the Steam Store Page. If they are interested, they can watch me make questionable decisions and fumble around in the long form video.
I'm really curious what you guys think about this. Leave your feedback in the comments. And as ALWAYS.. Skill is optional, but fun is mandatory. Peace!

Do you prefer that I do SOLO-ONLY content? It seems like every time I publish a video co-op, no one watches it.
