Nyati males in expanding
The Nyati males are on the move, actively expanding their territory. Guide reports indicate that the Topi Boys from the Great Mara crossed the Mara River into the Triangle in mid-December of last year.
During their incursion, they encountered the lioness Angama alone and pursued her for a considerable distance. Upon returning to the area where they found her, the guides discovered she had cubs, which the invading males subsequently killed.
The Topi Boys remained in the Triangle for several days before retreating to the Great Mara, having expelled both the Nomadic Male and the Owino Male from their territories.
This upheaval created a temporary vacuum, leading to further displacement among the resident males. In response, the Nyati males moved north, taking advantage of the newly vacated territory. They first seized the lioness Angama and began appearing with her, consolidating their position. Recent reports suggest they have now made direct contact with the River Pride. With cubs present in this pride, a fierce confrontation is expected as the lionesses fight to defend their cubs.
