MIDERA

You might not know this - but I used to write exclusively rock music. This weekend I officially published my first Rock album. Originally I was under the Pseudonym of "Son of Sevenless" but decided to switch to "Morrowfaire." I extracted all of my songs from my Roland VS-840GX, which required that I played back each track, one at a time, to my DAW, and then I remastered all the tracks. This is why I have not put out any music for the last month. I know this will likely not be most folks cup of tea - but if you want to hear the origins of my music production, it started here. The song "Hide Myself" was written when I was 16. Many of these songs were written between 2000-2004. I copyrighted my album in 2004 with the Library of Congress, but never published - until now.

Today I hit 10,000 subscribers. Thank you to everyone who has followed me for the past 14 years. YouTube also sent a congratulations, in the form of TWO copyright notices (how can something that's just ambient sounds be copyrighted?) and told me that if I dispute them my channel might be terminated. Thank you YouTube.

A lot has changed in those 14 years (2012). I was still in graduate school when I discovered synthesizers. They broke me away from playing World of Warcraft - I stopped almost immediately. I got the Korg R3, but quickly upgraded to the Radias, bought a Spectralis 2, and finally the Access Virus TI polar - these things got me really immersed in making electronic music (I had been writing stuff in FL studio and Garageband for years).

Now I'm done with grad school, got married, have kids, and a career... but still enjoy making these videos. I've learned only recently that if I post a video a day, my subscriber count goes way up. I definitely can't keep that up indefinitely, and I'm not sure my soundscapes are very impactful anyway, it's just me noodling on different synthesizers mostly.

Finally - my friend suggested I 'get myself something' for making it to 10K subscribers. In itself, it doesn't really feel like an achievement. It's just another (rainy) day out there - where my real life happens. And anyway, I have too much credit card debt to really do anything fancy. I had thought about getting a Super Gemini, but they're very big, and what would that get me that I don't already have? Plus, they're very expensive. I've thought about a camera or lens upgrade, but... what I have suffices.

Thank you again for joining my channel.

Here is a track I released (apparently copyrighted) today to celebrate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwp66...
