Hello and welcome to the SPQR History Channel! On this channel, we love everything ancient history in general, but more specifically Roman history. We're releasing new videos about Rome's fascinating history.
I hope this message finds you well. Today, I have some exciting news to share with you regarding the future of The SPQR Historian.
My goal with this channel has always been to do this full-time. To achieve that goal, I've decided to dedicate myself to uploading more frequently, and I've also created a Patreon site ([bitly.ws/3a4DG]) and am planning the upcoming launch of channel memberships here on YouTube.
While I remain committed to keeping our content free for everyone, this is an opportunity for those who have the means and the ability to support my work.
I recently found myself in a position where this channel has become my main source of income, as I was recently let go from my full-time job. Your consideration and support during this transitional period are immensely valuable.
Recently, YouTube's demonetization policies have started to impact the channel's revenue, making it increasingly challenging to cover the basic expenses required to keep The SPQR Historian running smoothly. With your support through Patreon and channel memberships, not only will you gain early access to videos, but you'll also play a crucial role in overcoming these challenges and ensuring the continued growth and quality of our content.
I'm also considering opening up a Discord server for the community, where we can discuss history, share video ideas, share art, and exchange news stories about recent discoveries, among other things. If someone wants to help me set that up and assist in running the server, feel free to reach out to me at thespqrhistorian@gmail.com and let me know your experience.
Thanks for taking the time to read all that and considering supporting the work we do here on the channel.
👑 Get ready to journey back in time with us as we unravel the awe-inspiring tale of Emperor Aurelian, the Restitutor Orbis! 👑
In our upcoming video, we'll delve into the remarkable achievements and turbulent challenges faced by this influential figure of ancient history. From his legendary military conquests to his impact on the Roman Empire, Aurelian's story is one you won't want to miss!
I've deleted the video on Philip the Arab. I could not keep it public, in good conscience, after many of you pointed out that the sponsor of the video was 'allegedly' a scam. As I've seen that company sponsor many videos of reputable creators I didn't do my own due diligence (lessons learned). But after my investigation, I came to the same conclusion. So the video is gone.
Today, 31th of August, 161 AD, 1861 years ago Commodus was born into the purple. His father, Marcus Aurelius, tried to steer his life in the right direction but he was absent for much of Commodus' early life, fighting in the north - in the Marcomannic Wars.
Today, 10th of July, 138 AD, 1884 years ago Emperor Hadrian died, presumably of a heart attack, at the age of 62. He was buried first at Puteoli, on the grounds of the former estate of the rhetorician Cicero (as homage to Hadrian's love of learning), but when Antoninus Pius completed the great Tomb of Hadrian in Rome the following year, his body was cremated and the ashes interred there with those of his wife and his adopted son Lucius Aelius Caesar, father of Lucius Verus.

Hey everyone! Just a quick update
It will be reuploaded in a day or so.
I hope you have a great weekend.
