To the community or whom it may concern. Since the beginning of the new year I have been unable to get my weekly arthritis injections due to change in insurance companies. At first I thought I could hack it but those that have noticed my absence now know I can’t. It is not something I chose but have to deal with all the same. Other than that things are starting to look up a bit. So hopefully look forward to seeing me in the future once I can get my pain management a sitiated. Back side of a red SMD Solder Practice board w/ US quarter for size reference. All resistors soldered by hand with my soldering iron. Everything checks out with my multimeter, no bridges, shorts, etc. 💪🏼😎

How in the actual F@#k do you solder 0402 SMD components with a soldering iron??? That is my pinky finger in the shot for size reference…
So I soldered the main center board with the hot plate, but I needed the practice so I was able to solder the 1206 component 0805 component 0603 component OK. Hoping I can reflow with the hot plate afterwards if needing adjustment. But how do I install 0402 SMD components???

My first fully soldered SMD (surface mounted device) circuit board.
Since I don’t have a hot air station. I used solder paste and hot plate. But after manually applying paste I had massive bridges on all four sides of the large chips on the right side as well as many others on the other ICs. But I was able to fix them no problem. So a huge shout out to ‪@nanofixca‬ for all the comparison videos where they fully test out different brands. He doesn’t really know me but I’ve learned so much just by watching his techniques. From nano sponges, to nano flux, to solder type I could go on and on…
Also like to shout out ‪@JoeyDoesTech‬ for the amazing vibes and fun while learning all of this. Joey is never afraid to show his failures as well as successes. Awesome sauce you two, and to all that help make your channels possible! Keep up the hard work.

Unfortunately I completely spaced LEDs & diodes have to have the polarity right to work… I was so focused on just placing everything I dropped the ball. Guess I have to retry with the other board 😆

My first attempt at SMD soldering and OMG! Hot Plate surface soldering is flipping amazing!!!
Now there are a couple larger spots that need touchup soldering. But all chips are tight to the board and no gaps under the ICs. Plus I don’t have stencils and didn’t want to add to much solder paste since it was all applied manually from the syringe. 😍Hot Plate Soldering

Huge Thanks to ‪@selock‬ for the massive haul of locks!!! Over 35lb box of locks 🤯 and with an Adam’s Wright mechanism I am interested in learning about internally. Along with poker chip, stickers, and more! Plus got my favorite sticker in a holographic 💪🏼😎

3 days of practice and things are looking much better! Nice little through hole volcano solder joints.
Plus built this digital hour glass with adjustable speed as well.
