So, last December I picked up another classic car; this time something older than my usual stuff. I've wanted a classic '50s car and this '51 Desoto showed up locally and was dirt cheap. I got it running in about 3 months time and turned it into a daily driver and have already put over 2,000 miles on it. It drives like nothing else that I have. It's purely mechanical with no computers or fancy circuits anywhere and just works. It sat since 1981 but you'd never know it as it drives great and everything works great. I fully rebuilt the brakes, fuel, and ignition systems so it's 100% safe to drive. I clipped down the zillions of hours of video into a manageable video for your enjoyment https://youtu.be/NSqwTnMEGto?si=YsMtv...
One of my local YouTuber friends, @freedom1garage, was at the local Trailer Races and scored 1st place with some spectacular driving. I got to see the race in person and thoroughly enjoyed it https://youtu.be/x-5wXLGdDm8?si=yCvqX...
By popular request, I posted my brother and his friends' old album from 2003. He recorded it straight to cassette from their jam sessions and they later added vocals and put it on CD. This album isn't anywhere else on the internet so this is it's "debut" lol. I also made a playlist on my channel's playlist tab so you can play individual songs and save them to another playlist. They had a lot of fun making this back then and it's a super raw recording with no mixers, soundboards, or computers involved
It took a year, but I've recovered as much as I can after a red light running driver totaled out my daily driver. I cashed in my 401k and bought the best closest replacement to my Grand Marquis since @nationwide refuses to pay full liability for their 100% at-fault driver. I made an update vid on the current whereabouts of my poor car, https://youtu.be/5H_Hj3ND1jA but in short, it sold at auction and someone else bought it and apparently was able to find a shop that would fix it. I tried for months to get it fixed but couldn't find anyone that would straighten the frame
Well, this isn't a post I wanted to make, but I don't have a choice. My beloved Mercury Grand Marquis got wrecked by a driver running a red light 4 months ago. Their insurance company, Nationwide, accepted 100% liability for the crash, but has since refused to pay fully to make the situation right. They issued a check for a bit less than half the replacement cost of the car and thousands less than it will cost to repair. They refused to arrange to tow my car to a body shop; I had to do that myself and pay out of pocket. They also refused to successfully get me a rental car while I waited for my Merc to get estimated. Nationwide won't answer their phones or return calls on the matter. I contacted the Nebraska Insurance Board but that won't really accomplish anything. I also contacted a lawyer but there's been no response there either. I'm struggling to get to work as my only other winter car is my 1981 Dodge truck, and it's had trouble starting in the -17F weather. The heater in it also didn't work and I got sick freezing on the way to work. I could go out and buy a new car, but it will take my entire life savings to buy one. I've been looking at another used car but haven't found anything I would trust to drive through the winter. I don't know what to do anymore
Sorry the channel's been quiet for a while. We had some insane weather and my sister's and brother law's house got severely damaged and they had to move in. My editing studio was converted to emergency lodging for them while they worked on their house. Also, my brother's Dodge Dart got smashed by a tree. Everyone is okay, thankfully. They were able to fix up their house enough to live in it again and I'll be repairing the damage to the Dart. I've started editing all the content I've got and there a lots of videos coming soon
So, I began the Mustang's restoration July 18, 2019, put on the last coat of clear coat July 18, 2020, and now it's fully done and I'm enjoying it. Hard to believe I started all that 2 years ago already
Wheelcam is back! I made custom mounts for the Duster and Mustang so I can have this sweet cinematic view. One mount fits both cars interchangeably and I can remove and store the outer piece in 5 seconds. I recently completed another huge project so I'm back to filming cool stuff again.
Hard to believe that it's been 8 years already. I haven't had a chance to manage the channel at all as I've been doing side projects every spare moment. I fully rebuilt the Duster's brakes as one of the projects and it now has even better braking performance. I'm hoping to have a new video ready by the 20th
Wasn't expecting to have 3 videos this month, but that's how it worked out this time. My goal is to have 1 new video each month on the Sunday on or just before the 20th of each month. I've got dozens of videos worth of content and I'm editing and uploading as I can get time.
