For anyone who missed it, my old band This Is Not A Game Of Who The Fuck Are You (TINAGOWTFAY) made an indiegogo campaign to release a Redux of our album 101010 as a 10 year anniversary thing, and that campaign is over in 15 hours! We've already passed 200% funding, so it's officially happening, but if you also want a vinyl, make sure to back it now!
This is a post I was not expecting to be writing so soon. Honestly, at all. When do you ever consider the mortality of people you have never met but who nevertheless succeeded to affect your life so profoundly?
I never had the chance to meet Joey Jordison, but I will always remember the few times I was lucky enough to see him live together with Slipknot. It was chaos, but a form of chaos that just radiated and managed to give you energy to keep going. To fight. We all fight our own battles. Joey fought his own, and he gave me the strength to fight mine.
Being a young, passionate and odd kid, drums and Slipknot were some of the only things that gave me comfort and confidence. They made me feel like I had a home, and that me and my struggles were valid. If someone can make me feel these things, then maybe I can do something like that too? No, Joey wasn’t the most technical or skilled drummer, but damn it if he wasn’t one of the most passionate and expressive. He never played for skill. He played for emotion. His contribution to music and drumming will live on, not just through me, but through our entire beautiful community who I know shares my sentiments. I am eternally and deeply grateful for having lived at the same time as him.
I remember speaking with Corey after a show with Stone Sour back in 2010, and he mentioned that the nine had seen some of my YouTube videos during their rehearsals. Joey had apparently become angry at how this little Swedish kid on YouTube was playing their songs “better than him” haha. The sweetest and most humble form of hyperbole I’ve ever heard.
Thanks Joe. For everything.🖤 Ok if I keep the name, just for a bit longer...?
This is the very first Music Video I've ever had the privilege of having a part in!
My band @AldrovandaOfficial released out first ever music video last week, made for the cover song "Life" of E-Type's song with the same name from 2001. There's a fair bunch of shots of me drumming and singing in the song, and you might recognize some of the classic Joeyjunior antics in there ;)
This was such a fun project to realize, and I am so proud and thankful for everyone who helped us make it come to life (pun very much intended)! If you like what you hear and see, feel free to follow us on Youtube, Spotify, Facebook etc. We have a lot more coming very soon! As do I ;) See you guys again soon! /Dave
TINAGOWTFAY - 101010 - ANNIVERSARY, NEW MIX, POTENTIAL VINYL
Hey everyone, my old band This Is Not a Game of Who the Fuck Are You recently had a big anniversary, and with your help, we'd like to celebrate it in style! Here's our official post from facebook:
"It’s crazy, our first record turns ten today. As most of you already know we haven’t really been a band for quite a few years, but earlier this year we all got together and started talking about if there was something we could do to properly celebrate this anniversary.
We pretty quickly decided that there were things about the record that we thought could use some freshening up. We went through everything and rerecorded some small parts that we weren’t excited about, and found someone to do a fresh mix and master of the record (this process is going on right now, we’ve heard test mixes and are really excited about how it’s sounding).
There’s still a little bit of money left in the band that we wanted to put to good use, and what we’d really like to do is put out a vinyl release (with completely new artwork and a new mix). We still have a little bit of cash left after paying for the mix, but not enough to cover vinyl pressing. Also, we want to make sure that people want to buy the record to begin with. All this to say that we’ll be launching a crowdfunding campaign soon to see where you guys are at on this. More info to come in the coming days!
Going through all of this old stuff has us all super nostalgic and thankful for the support that we had from you all. Thanks for everything ❤ (I found this picture on my camera, not sure who took it but it's from the release gig that happened exactly ten years ago.)"
Head over to our facebook page to get all the future updates on this. Hope you guys are as excited as we are!
