Whilst mental health is talked about a lot….we often are so caught up in day to day we forget what it really means. 🤔

Go with a mate fishing, and take the time to really connect whilst you’re out there. 🎣
That separation from day to day is when shields are dropped and you hear the things that someone is really experiencing in their life. Maybe that conversation will make all the difference. 😊

Lots of mixed opinions coming out in the comments around releasing Demersals and survival rates.
Should we cover this topic and explain our experiences and debunk some myths?

We condone releasing certain Demersals under certain conditions, and think the new rules around no size limits helps a long way to enable a sustainable fishery in ensuring we keep fish with signs of barotrauma.
This view is based on facts and evidence which we can run through from multiple independent studies done. (Link below)

One Myth is you can’t release, which is certainly NOT true!
Along with other myths of fish ages, biomass calculations, migrations (yes, dhufish do migrate under environmental hardships) and that all Demersal fish die when released. Data can be interpreted by outliers or correlations. Unfortunately outliers is what is weaponised in debates……We as humans do not live to be 122 years old 🤔

Historical Dhu fish tagging programs showed a good % rate of recapture which contradicts survival rate as only one example we can discuss along with our own recaptures (even same day!). However this is not always the case, and we think more education on this topic is needed to avoid divided opinions and enabling people to make the right choice by the fishery.

If you’re new to Demersal fishing, we would prescribe that all Demersal fish you catch in 20m+ without size limits, please keep 🙏

Hey subscribers,

Those who have followed me for a while, I’ve finally had the surgery to give me some relief.
Basically I’ve been suffering with high burden PVCs for a while now which hit me out of the blue. ❤️
It’s my first surgical procedure ever, and for someone who holds their health in high regard, it was a bitter pill to swallow when this all came about.
8 months later, I’ve just undergone an ablation procedure. Health isn’t a privilege and be thankful for when you have it.

Still plenty of more fishing adventures yet!

Health wise, I’m still not the best and pending surgery!
Hopefully be back to full force in 2025.

I’ve had a heap of people reach out the last month seeking fishing and boating advice, and it’s been really great seeing people get into good fish, or solutions to their electronics.

Health Update: Done a heap of tests and doctors are non the wiser. I feel it’ll be sometime until I’m back to my normal self. It’s been a rough ride the last month.
