One of the clearest signs that sin has gained victory over a person is when they deliberately choose to continue in it, assuming that God's forgiveness will always cover them. When someone knowingly sins with the intention of relying on grace afterwards, they have allowed sin to take control of their will.

There is a difference between falling into sin unexpectedly and deliberately choosing to sin. A believer may stumble out of weakness and sincerely repent before God. But when your will is fully involved—when you knowingly plan, choose, and persist in sin—that is a different matter entirely.

Willful sin has consequences. It hardens the heart, weakens spiritual sensitivity, and creates distance in one's fellowship with God. God's mercy is available to the truly repentant, but His grace was never meant to be a licence for deliberate disobedience.

If your life is marked by intentional sin, it is a sign that sin has gained ground. The answer is not to presume upon God's forgiveness but to genuinely repent, turn away from sin, and allow Christ to restore your heart and strengthen you to walk in obedience.

There are twelve spiritual disciplines that every believer who desires to become a spiritual warrior must cultivate. One of the most difficult is the discipline of sustaining an oath of silence.

Imagine waking up one morning and deciding that for the next three days you will not speak to anyone. Your words will be directed to God alone. That is when you begin to realise how difficult such a discipline truly is.

Suddenly, everyone seems to need your attention. Your spouse wants to talk to you. A relative unexpectedly travels from Nigeria just to see you. Friends call, visitors arrive, and situations arise that tempt you to break your commitment.

It is in those moments that you discover how much of our trouble comes from the careless or unnecessary use of the tongue. Silence exposes just how dependent we are on speaking.

God does not use words carelessly. Every word He speaks carries purpose, power, and intention. As believers, we must also learn the discipline of speaking only when necessary and allowing our words to align with God's wisdom.

When the Spirit of prayer comes upon you, it changes the frequency of your utterance. If you've experienced it before, you know exactly what I'm talking about. There comes a point where you are no longer merely saying words—you begin to pray from a deeper place.

The Spirit of prayer brings you to the place where you discover your true prayer voice.

Every genuine intercessor has a prayer voice. If you have been praying for years but have never heard that prayer voice emerge, then there is still a dimension of prayer you have not yet entered.

Think of prayer as a journey.

At the beginning, you are trying to take off from the flesh. Your mind is active, your emotions are involved, and what usually helps you start is a prayer point. Prayer points are important because they help you engage, focus your thoughts, and begin to press into God's presence.

However, prayer points are not the destination.

As you continue praying, waiting on the Lord, and yielding to the Holy Spirit, there comes a moment when the Spirit of prayer takes over. This is what I call the point of prayer.

Notice the difference.

You start with prayer points, but you eventually arrive at the point of prayer.

Everything you were doing at the beginning—pressing through distractions, waiting on God, stirring your spirit, and trusting the Holy Spirit to move—was simply the process of gaining spiritual ascendancy. It was preparation. It was the runway before takeoff.

Then, suddenly, you arrive at the point of prayer.

At that moment, your voice changes. Your real prayer voice emerges. You are no longer praying from effort but from the Spirit. The burden becomes clearer, your utterance becomes different, and your prayers carry a weight they did not have before.

This is the voice that can lead others in prayer.

Until you discover your true prayer voice, you may be able to say prayers, but when that voice emerges, you begin to carry people into the presence of God. Your words are no longer merely spoken—they become expressions of the Spirit's burden.

The evidence that you have reached the point of prayer is that your voice changes. Your prayer is no longer mechanical; it becomes spiritual. You are no longer relying on prepared prayer points—you are praying from the place where the Holy Spirit has taken over.
