IF YOU FAIL, IT IS YOUR FAULT.

When I graduated from school, I decided to hold a Thanksgiving service in my father’s church. I danced, praised God, and expressed my gratitude for what He had done for me.

After the Thanksgiving, the prophet began to speak powerful prophecies over my life. He talked about the great things God had in store for my future.

My father, who was the General Overseer, didn’t even wait until we got home before speaking to me about it. He stood up in front of the whole congregation and said, “I am addressing you right now in front of everyone. Witches have heard, wizards have heard, and heaven has recorded this prophecy. It is now in your hands to wage war with what has been spoken over you. If you fail, it is your fault.”

That man raised me like a soldier.

Those words stayed with me. Even when I faced temptation, weakness, or moments when I wanted to give up, I could still hear that sentence in my spirit: If you fail, it is your fault.

So what did I do?

I went out and looked for friends who could pray.

I wasn’t looking for people who only wanted to talk about fashion, entertainment, or superficial things. I wanted people who could pray with me. I looked for prayer warriors.

We would book a room, lock ourselves in, and pray for eight straight hours. Sometimes, after five hours of intense prayer, it felt like we had only just started. I would even ask, “Can we pray some more?”

You need to find your spiritual tribe.

Let Elizabeth locate Mary.

Find friends who will sharpen you, just as iron sharpens iron. Find people who can call you in the middle of the night when you have fallen asleep and say, “Get up! Your destiny is too great for you to be sleeping right now.”

If you don’t build a serious prayer life now, life may eventually force you to pray.

Without the altar of prayer, you can easily become someone who only talks about God instead of someone who carries His power.

Take personal responsibility for the prophecies God has spoken over your life.

Be intentional about the people you surround yourself with. Disconnect from friendships that add nothing to your spiritual growth, and surround yourself with people who challenge you, sharpen you, and push you deeper into prayer.

Stop living carelessly.

Wage war with the prophecies over your life. Build your altar. Stay in prayer. And pursue the destiny God has placed before you.

When someone dies, don’t panic. If you panic, no wisdom will come to you.

There was a time when I used to travel by commercial vehicles because I didn’t have a car. I can still use them today if I need to get somewhere.

In Nigeria, especially when you are travelling to the villages in a commercial vehicle, you may find yourself sitting in the front with three other people. That is already a full load.

On one occasion, the person sitting in the front suddenly died. The wisdom that came to me for raising that person was simply to pinch him. I know it sounds stupid, but the person sneezed and came back.

And guess what? There was no adjustment to the vehicle or anything else. That was the wisdom that came at that moment.

You will need wisdom. It doesn’t always take much to raise the dead; what you need is wisdom.

The nature of wisdom is that it is directive, while the nature of knowledge is informative.

There are several things you need to know that will put you in a better position to deal with a situation. The gift of the word of knowledge gives you the information you need to fill your knowledge gap.

But even after you understand the situation, you still need the gift of the word of wisdom. And the word of wisdom comes in the form of a directive.

I traveled to see a senior minister who used to operate in great power, and I asked him, “How are you doing this thing?”

I had seen him on the crusade ground where about 200 people gave their lives to Christ. He told everyone to close their eyes and pray. But I opened my eyes because I wanted to see what would happen.

When he said, “Let’s pray,” all 200 of them started speaking in tongues. He didn’t touch anybody.

So I asked him, “How are you doing this?”

He said, “It is by fasting and prayer.”

I said, “Your answer is too simple. This is a refinery operation.”

So I started fasting. I started praying. I kept fasting and praying.

You people who want to come into ministry, let me tell you what ministry is. In order to keep step with the Holy Ghost, you need to live a fasted life. You need to pray for about two hours a day, and once or twice a month, you go for seven hours or more.

As I’m telling you these things now, you may say, “This is not attractive.” The real ministry is not attractive. That is why it is a calling. They call people into it.

A lot of you sisters like the idea of being pastors—appearing on posters and looking good. But let me tell you, it is a calling. If you are not called to do it, you will think they are wicked.

The man is already sold out to God. He is lost in God. When you look at him, you may think, “What is wrong with this man?” But he has been swallowed up by God.

The only way you can truly understand him is if you, too, are willing to be swallowed up. See, it is a work of sacrifice.

Native doctors who speak for the devil are not always in the cities. Many of them are in the villages. You need to cross over and go to where they are.

Spiritual things require sacrifice. If you are in the city, spiritual things can make you become like a villager in your devotion and lifestyle.

The Bible says, “Until the day in which He was taken up, after He, through the Holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen.”

Do not blame God for not being in your situation. What moves God is not the situation. How can a situation move the One who created the heavens and the earth?

Many people believe that because God sees the waves and the storm, He should rise up and immediately conquer them. They ask, “God, why are You not in my situation?”

Wake up! God does not move simply because there is a situation. Many people expect God to spring into action because His beloved daughter is facing a tempest. That is not His way. You are the one who determines whether God is active in your situation.

Someone may say, “But God is sovereign.”

Yes, He is sovereign. Was I the one who prayed before He created the sun? Did He need my prayer to raise Jesus from the dead? Why, then, should He not be sovereign in my case?

Your doctrine is not complete.

Indeed, God is sovereign. But God is also a God of faith. That means He allows Himself to be influenced by your faith.

Jesus was on His way to Jairus’ house to raise his twelve-year-old daughter from the dead. At the same time, there was a woman who had suffered from an issue of blood for twelve years.

This woman was not on the prayer list. She was not part of the appointment. Jesus was already on His way to Jairus’ house, but this woman broke into the protocol and reached out to touch the hem of His garment.

She received a miracle that was not part of the plan for that moment. She made a withdrawal by faith!

If you are going to sit back and wait for God to exercise His sovereignty without exercising your faith, you may keep waiting till it gets to the day of your grandson.

Spiritual attacks are real, create practical problems, and require knowledge and faith for victory.

Have you noticed a pattern in your life? Maybe evil spirits come to molest you. Maybe evil spirits come and press you, and you are gasping for breath. Who is in that category? You are normally pressed. Should I tell you what happened to you? It was a demon that came to suck oxygen from your room.

Satan has been rampant, and believers are the recipients because there is no knowledge. Victory in this matter is faith-based. It is based on the currency that was generated by every strand of sacrifice that Jesus made.

So, if you have spiritual knowledge, it will reflect in your prayer and in the way you pray. It doesn't take so much to defeat the devil, especially if that bondage is legally based. What you need is knowledge.

If I start interviewing everybody in this place, I am going to get not less than five people that spirits come to molest sexually in their sleep. I will not do it, but let me tell you: that situation is a situation of a marriage—a union that you did not consent to, yet it is already effective.

Spiritual problems create practical situations. It is not utopian. It is not imagination. It creates practical situations. That is a situation of defilement, a situation that is born by corruption.

Someone called me from somewhere and said, “The kind of messages you preach in this witchcraft series is too raw. Is it fit for America?”

I said, “You that have never been to America, you are asking me this question?”

I have been counseling for more than one year, and I found out we need it more here.

So let the people in Africa deal with their situation. Me, I am laboring over people in America.

Satan uses stratagems. He is not powerful in terms of brute strength. The One who is powerful is Jesus.

If you are in a difficult situation and you need an intervention from God, what you should do is establish prayer watches.

Wake up at 12 midnight and pray from 12 to 1 a.m., then go back to sleep. Wake up again at 3 a.m. and pray from 3 to 4 a.m. Go back to sleep, then wake up at 6 a.m. and pray from 6 to 7 a.m. Again, wake up at 9 a.m. and pray from 9 to 10 a.m. Do this consistently for three days.

If you cannot do it alone, get a group of people to join you. One person can take one watch, another person can take another watch, and together you can cover the different prayer hours.

There are certain insights you need to move forward, and they can come through those gates of prayer.

When you are diligent to stand upon your watch, you position yourself to hear what God will say to you. It is those who stand upon their watches that hear His voice.

If the voice of God has not been consistent in your life as a pastor or minister, you need to examine your prayer watches. Perhaps you have neglected the place of watching and praying.

You have become so measured by the limitations of earthly time that you no longer have the wings to mount up into the pavilion of heaven.

You must learn to withdraw from the distractions of life and position yourself before God until you can hear what He is saying.

If you have no prayer life, you are cheating yourself and your future.

Prayer is the only messenger you can send into your future. When you have no prayer life, you are simply living for today. You are squandering your days. You are not creating a pathway for your future, and you are not building a legacy.

Someone once came to me and said, “Pastor, we went somewhere, and the priesthood was good. Everybody was dressed in white during the service, and it was a great time. But whenever we come here, you keep stretching us and pushing us, as if we are fighting with something.”

I said, “I am equipping you to conquer your generation.”

But the person who complained eventually became a giant.

She became a giant.

Today, they invite her to different nations to minister.

As her husband, I had to be hard on her. When she wanted to sleep, I would turn my back and continue praying.

There were days when I would be the one praying until she finally slept. But when she became a giant, she would say, “Let us pray.”

And I would think, “May I sleep now!”

Don't joke with your spiritual life.

Nobody accidentally became great in the kingdom of God. No one becomes a spiritual giant by mistake.

Don't use your life as an experiment.

Wake up.

Build your prayer life. Invest in your spiritual growth. What you do with God today is helping to determine the kind of legacy you will leave tomorrow.
