Let me speak to the brothers for a moment, and I’m speaking to you as a brother myself.
Many of the battles you face can begin with the things you allow your eyes to see. Sometimes, you see a sister and immediately conclude that she is good for you simply because of what you see. But some of the traps Satan sets along the path of a man’s destiny come through his eyesight.
If you understand how vulnerable your eyes can make you, you will begin to pray, “Lord, help me to guard my eyes and my heart.”
Some people are already in bondage because of something they saw. Their minds have been captured by an image, and they have struggled to recover from it.
So I want to ask you a question: What did you see that made you become comfortable with what Satan was suggesting?
I remember an experience we had during a training in Calabar. We were staying in a hotel called Gomez Plaza. Our course usually finished around 5:30 p.m., and whenever we came out of the hotel, there were naked women on the street.
What made the situation even more serious was that some of the people I was with were elders in the church—people who were deeply involved in spiritual and church activities.
When I saw what was happening, I asked the people at Gomez Plaza, “Do you have rooms available here?”
They said yes. So I paid for a room and stayed upstairs.
But some of the elders went outside to test the products being displayed on the street.
That experience taught me something: there are many traps Satan can place along the road of destiny, and some of those traps are designed to enter through your eyes.
Not everything you see should be entertained. Not every image deserves your attention. And not every environment is safe for your spiritual life.
Guard your eyes. Guard your heart. Be conscious of what you expose yourself to, because what begins as something you merely see can eventually become something that controls you.

There is what we call the law of sacrifice. If a person is not willing to sacrifice through fasting, prayer, night prayers, long prayers, and consistent spiritual discipline, they should not expect to experience spiritual life in its fullness.
Anytime life is made manifest, something has been sacrificed. Jesus gave Himself as a sacrifice, and through that sacrifice, we gained access to His life.
So, if you want to carry the ministry of life, you must be willing to embrace a life of sacrifice. There is no shortcut to it. Hallelujah!
You know, a church can be alive outwardly but dead spiritually. A minister can also become spiritually dead, and sometimes you may not even realize it—especially when there is enough money to pay the bills and everything appears to be functioning normally.
Sometimes, for God to help us, He may allow a difficult situation to happen—not to destroy us, but to wake us up from spiritual slumber.
The Bible says, “Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
If you want to remain spiritually alive and become a vessel through whom others can receive life, you must embrace the place of sacrifice.
It takes sacrifice.

Most people end their prayer sessions without arriving at the point of prayer. And if that is the description of your life, you will never experience the power of prayer because it is not consistent with the prescription. According to the prescription, you need to find the point of prayer.
It takes doggedness. It takes consistency. It takes going beyond how you feel. Sometimes you feel dry. Sometimes it feels like a waste of time. Those feelings are part of the sense of haste that Satan brings into your soul to make the adventure seem so terrible that you disembark before you arrive at the point of prayer.
A man who is going to know prayer must understand the principle of endurance—to endure the storms that Satan creates in your soul to distract you from the goal, which is intimacy with God and an encounter with Him.
You will need to stay put, even in the midst of turbulence. Satan creates a pseudo-turbulence to make you feel that the adventure is of no effect, that the adventure is a scam.
And he has discouraged many people from entering into the riches of intimacy with God because he starves them in their souls and creates a false alarm that makes them disembark from the adventure.
Jesus said that your prayer begins when you shut the door. There is a location that you must find. In that location, God comes to give you His own energy and to quicken you so that you can call upon His name.
It is a sweet experience if you ever get to that place—the point of prayer. Because the energy that drives the whole adventure is not from you, but from heaven.

If you have prayed and you have not yet heard God, keep praying. If you have worshipped and you have not heard Him, keep worshipping. If you have sung and you have not heard Him, keep singing. Don’t stop.
Prayer without the voice of God can become an empty exercise. Worship without hearing God can become routine. That is why some people ask, “I have prayed. I have done everything. So why is nothing changing?”
The answer is that it is not the prayer itself that changes things. It is the voice of God.
Prayer is the gateway. Prayer is the access point. Prayer is the vehicle that takes you to the place where the voice of God can be heard.
The Bible says, “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.” His voice carries His authority. His voice can thunder, divide flames of fire, shake the wilderness, and bring order where there was chaos.
This is why men who understand the power of God's voice don't take prayer casually. When life begins to look like a mirage, they don't simply panic; they begin to seek the voice of God.
Some will withdraw to a secret place and pray for weeks or even months. They are not concerned about telling everyone how long they prayed. What matters to them is what they heard when they came out.
Because when God speaks, even if He speaks in a whisper, that word is enough.
Many people take pride in how much they fast, how long they pray, or how much they worship. Yet they still wonder why their lives seem to contradict what they are doing spiritually.
Sometimes, the problem is that they have not understood that prayer is a journey.
When wise men pray, they are travelling. That is why sometimes we add fasting to prayer. We know that we are praying, but there are things slowing down our spiritual sensitivity. So we press further.
Sometimes we add intense worship or praying in the Spirit because we are trying to silence the noise, remove distractions, and position ourselves to hear clearly.
We are climbing the mountain.
Look at Moses. He went up the mountain and remained there for forty days. He kept climbing until he encountered God.
There is something concerning your destiny that you have been crying out for. There is something you have been waiting for God to do. But sometimes, the Spirit cannot move in the way you desire until the voice of God comes forth.
I know you are looking for a breakthrough. I know you are believing God for something. I know there may be battles around you, and you may even be angry with the devil.
But your greatest need is not simply another battle cry. You need the voice of God.
This is why we build our prayer lives and create spiritual altars through prayer and fasting—to position ourselves so that whatever signal comes from heaven, we can recognize and capture it.
And when you hear God clearly, you gain an advantage that cannot be manufactured by human strength.
The easiest way to make progress in life is to hear the voice of God.
When God speaks, mountains can move. Oceans can part. Provision can come from unexpected places. God can cause quails to appear in the wilderness. He can lead you into abundance because abundance is part of the economy of His voice.
When the voice of God becomes clear in your life, you stop walking by guesswork.
The day a person loses sensitivity to God's voice is the day spiritual decline begins to set in.
So, if you want the Holy Spirit to continually work in your life, seek access to the voice of God.
How much of His voice do you have?
You are not truly rich simply because you have billions in your bank account. In the Spirit, true wealth is having access to the voice of God.
Money is not the highest form of wealth.
The economy of God's voice is what produces true spiritual wealth.
When God's voice is active in your direction, it can reveal mysteries, open doors, give you wisdom, connect you to the right people, and bring resources into your hands.
So, don't merely seek prayer for the sake of praying. Don't fast simply to say you fasted. Don't worship merely because you want to complete a spiritual routine.
Pray until you hear. Worship until you hear. Seek until you hear.
Prayer is the vehicle. The voice of God is the destination.
And when you find that voice, you will discover that what seemed impossible can suddenly become possible.

If you want to hear God, there are a few things you need to do.
First, create the atmosphere.
Think about it like having a visitor. If someone is coming to visit you and you know the kind of drink they enjoy, you prepare it ahead of time. You want them to feel comfortable. You want to entertain them so much that they lose track of time.
That is how you should learn to entertain the Holy Spirit.
What does He like? Do you know? Have you walked with Him enough to understand what He enjoys?
Maybe you don't know what God likes yet. Then let me bring it closer to you: what does your spirit respond to?
What kind of atmosphere makes it easy for you to pray? What environment helps you become more conscious of God? When you discover it, create that atmosphere.
That's why I'm emphasizing this: create the atmosphere.
Secondly, you must understand that a depressed and weighed-down man will struggle to hear God. When your spirit is carrying too much weight, you cannot mount up to high places.
You have to fight against bitterness.
Bitterness is designed to handicap you. It makes you heavy. It makes you almost wingless because there will come a time when you need to mount up.
I'm already in transit because I'm talking to you.
Maybe you had a fight with your wife, and you're still thinking about how you're going to punish her. You can't go up like that.
If you really want to go up, go back to her and say, "Can we settle this? I'm sorry."
Not necessarily because you feel like saying sorry, but because you want to go up.
There is a price to pay to go up.
What will make you a good husband is not merely trying to be a good husband. It is loving Jesus and wanting to walk with Him. When you genuinely want to travel with Jesus, you will become a better husband.
So, offload the weight.
Go back and say, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. Please forgive me."
Maybe you don't even feel it yet, but you are doing it because you want to go up.
You want to go up.
You want to go up.
And when you have offloaded that weight, something happens: you become light.
The most accurate disposition of the human spirit is lightness.
Many of you don't know how to align your spirit. You have allowed too many things to sit on your heart.
But if you want to hear God, if you want to ascend, if you want to enter those higher places in the Spirit, you must learn to lay the weight down.
