Just occurred to me that the incomparable princess of R'n'B/Hiphop & indeed the Queen of the Damned, the late Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 1979 - 25th August 2001) has been gone (24 years) longer than she was alive (22 years).
Supremely talented & a precocious performer, Miss. Haughton suffered the excruciating distinction of being exploited by sleazy men as a teenager & avaricious promoters as a young woman, indeed what resulted in her untimely demise on a day like today in 2001 in a ramshackle plane ✈ flown by an inebriated, unlicensed debutant pilot at Marsh harbour, Bahamas.
Keep RIP Princess.

Around this time 17 years ago, we lost a true icon of the comedy game, the great Bernard Jeffrey McCollough (Bernie Mac/ Uncle Bernie).
Who else gave credence to the innocuous snack that was doggone "milk & cookies."
Bernie's comedy was edgy & raw, giving it like it is without any filter.
Who else would ever have thought about a 6'2 man squaring up to a 6-year-old girl that was starting to get disrespectful & 'f#£k them up'?
Big Momma gone too! Now the new age grandmas at age 36 gotta get their hair & nails done & can't do nothing after that, even baby sitting...
His works are still raucuously comical to this day.

Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, was an American singer and rapper known for his signature baritone vocals and his frequent appearances on hit rap songs. He was a prominent figure in West Coast hip-hop, collaborating with numerous artists like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Warren G.
It was never certified Platinum till Nate was singing in it as he was the veritable King of G-Funk.
However, his demons caught up with him when after a traffic accident he skipped hospital coupled with his hard living he suffered the third of a series of strokes that claimed his life in March 2011.
Rest in Peace, G-Funk King.
