Happy 2026!

First video of this year is a collab with ‪@Taitset‬ on the Metro Tunnel and the 'Big Switch'

If you haven't seen it already and would like to hear us talking about timetables for over an hour, make sure you have a look!

Last video of the year is out! This one is topical so I had a hard deadline to get it published.

Thank you so much to everyone for your support over the past 12 months. Having an audience of interested people gives me the ongoing motivation to keep making videos.

I have some new plans for next year and try some new things, including covering more topics outside Melbourne and some more collaborative projects. As always if you have any ideas or opportunities, please let me know.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2026!

Everyone excited for tomorrow?

Although I am not exclusively a train channel, the opening of the Metro Tunnel is an important milestone in the transport history of this state.

There is a lot happening on 30 November 2025 - most notably the first revenue passenger trains through the Metro Tunnel.

Other things:

- The start of free public transport myki weekend travel from 30 November 2025 until 1 February 2026
- New underground tunnels linking various parts of CBD stations and landmarks, built as part of the Metro Tunnel, including Federation Square and Melbourne Central
- 240 extra trains per week on the Cranbourne / East Pakenham / Cranbourne Lines

So what will you be doing tomorrow?

The upcoming social media ban has now been extended to YouTube by the Commonwealth Government. I think this may significantly and disproportionately impact local content creators like this channel because the audience is almost entirely located in Australia.

See my thoughts on my blog post here: philipmallis.com/2025/07/31/on-the-youtube-social-…

What do you think?

Some of you may have seen this already. But if you haven't and are after an outsider's take on Melbourne and its urban & transport landscape, check out Citynerd's latest video here. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
