I’ve just learned from a community member that my Toto K300 has a carbon filter that could be replaced if needed. The K300 manual says nothing about ever needing to replace a carbon filter but, apparently for some, this piece can collect odors over time.
The manual doesn’t say anything about it and only wants the “Deodorizer Filter” cleaned regularly and that’s just a simple plastic mesh filter: www.totousa.com/filemanager_uploads/product_assets…
But a commenter noted it in this diagram as #14 “Deodorizer Catalyst”: www.totousa.com/filemanager_uploads/product_assets…
So I just took apart my Toto K300 washlet to get to the bottom of this… and wish I had just looked sooner as it was very obvious!
The vent cover faces the toilet tank and just pops off. Then you can pull out the “Deodorizer Catalyst” to replace if needed. See the gif below!
After 14 months of heavy use by my family of 4, this element has zero smell.
I’m actually more concerned about smells accruing in the seams of the plastic seat over this. But it is quite helpful to know it exists!
In the process, I also opened another piece on the bottom of the seat that opens to an adapter you can plug something into. This piece remains a mystery for now, but you can see it in a gif below.
All in all, I absolutely love my TOTO K300. You can see some of my videos on it here:

I also have an Eco Nova. It is very slim and actually looks good on small toilets, but I’m not as impressed with the spray pressure and oscillation on it as I am with the TOTO K300: https://youtu.be/8BjhHYD6F4k
