I’m Pyotr Kurzin, host of The Global Gambit. I’ve spent years working across Africa and Eastern Europe with the World Bank and the International Crisis Group, and trained in strategic studies and economic statecraft at Johns Hopkins SAIS.
This isn’t second-hand commentary — it’s first-hand field and policy experience brought straight to you. Everyone has biases — but the only way to really grow is to test them, step out of our comfort zones, and avoid echo chambers. That’s exactly what this channel is for. Pyotr prides himself in engaging all sides.

I’m looking for a right-hand person to help me run The Global Gambit. Could that be you?
The show is growing fast, but could be even faster, and I’ve reached the point where I can’t do the research, the interviews, and the guest booking all by myself.
I need an Assistant Producer to own the "logistics" side of the show. Your main job is simple: Get the right people on the calendar. What I need from you:
Guest Sourcing: You have the intuition to find guests that actually fit the show’s niche, vibe and focus.
Outreach: You’ll handle the DMs and emails to land high-level academics and experts.
Management: You’ll own the "operations" - the engine room of scheduling, follow-ups, and making sure guests have what they need before we hit record.
I open-minded when it comes to backgrounds (you don't need to be as nerdy as l am on geopolitics, IR etc), but l do need someone who "gets" both the topics and my approach and is a natural at professional persistence. You’re organised, you’re an intuitive communicator, and you don’t need your hand held - at least permanently.
If you’re interested, drop me a DM on X, IG, or elsewhere, or email me via theglobalgambit@gmail.com with a bit about yourself, 3 guests you think would be a great fit for the channel right now, and how you would approach them.

Coming to you from Times Square! Im in NYC for a few major events (+ my mum's birthday) so posting schedule will be skewed.
It’s actually a bit of a milestone being able to do so and wanted to say that it’s largely down you all you who’ve subscribed and supported the channel, so thank you.
And better yet, being able to give back to my family after the years they did for me, makes it that much sweeter.
Stay tuned, exciting things coming.
(Edit: l did live in DC for 5 years, so got my fair share of bagels, coffee, TSA, and more).

Trump continues to show just how much of a joke he is.
First it’s all about his threats and inevitable ‘withdrawal from NATO’.
But once it becomes clear that’s impossible because of the NDAA, he shifts to bragging how he’ll ‘punish’ members who refused to help him in a war he never told them about.
So then, he claims his govt will spend a productive amount of time repositioning US troops around Europe in a completely pointless move of musical chairs.
Oh, and the smartest part of this master plan? The cost of all this rearranging will only be felt by the US taxpayer!
