Hello. I am now in a very unique situation with a mixed audience as a result of recent events.
In order to bring everyone up to speed and to ensure we're all on the same page moving forward into 2025, here is some pertinent background information:
- I have been uploading to youtube for SEVENTEEN YEARS. December 2007 to PRESENT. For those who were not aware- YES, I AM an OG youtuber. My first channel is so old, it doesn't even exist anymore because something got messed up with the changeover from Beta to Google... that's how long I've been uploading here lol.
- This is not the only account I've ever owned, managed, or worked for. Prior to youtube, I have been independently editing audio since age 6, and editing video since age 8- with primitive technology and offline during those earlier years, of course.
- ALL of the youtube shorts on this channel have been made private for the time being because I do not consent to the 'remix feature' which cannot be disabled on an account that does not meet YPP criteria. Dozens of my previous long form videos have been removed by me, mostly due to unforeseen copyright claims (see below).
- My natural speaking voice was frequently getting copyright claimed for a duration of 3 years out of the 17 years I've been uploading to youtube. This was resolved only RECENTLY- literally just a few WEEKS ago. So please be PATIENT with me. I simply cannot abandon my existing schedule at the drop of a hat, or put myself in a situation of financial instability.
- I currently work OFF CAMERA, full-time, co-editing regionally on other channels. This has been a necessary accommodation for me in recent years for private reasons, which I do not share publicly and are not related to youtube. For those who are fixated on routinely questioning me about this, please do not interrogate me any further.
- This a friendly but final warning with regards to leaving inappropriate comments on any existing or future videos and content. As a person who has spent almost an entire lifetime devoted to media production, by no means have I ever stopped or quit youtube, or producing content.
- If any of the above wasn't clear enough... and I don't know how to say this nicely but... PLEASE STOP asking where I am, how I'm doing, "checking on me", inquiring or demanding new videos here, or making false statements about me or my work... all of this needs to STOP.
- Recently, a close loved one strongly encouraged me to monitor and moderate the comments on this channel to a higher degree than previously- which I am most certainly in agreement with. Future comments that are potentially triggering may not end up publicly visible.
Maintaining a safe space and facilitating mutual respect for everyone is extremely important to me. I understand that many individuals may not have been aware of any of the above, and/or had no intention of causing harm to myself or to anyone else. This is why I took the time to write this post.
I encourage you to choose one of the following options that best suits your needs:
1. Kindly hit the 'unsubscribe' button if you're not "down with the 411" regarding any of the above, or if my personality and/or values do not align with your own.
2. Be kind, respectful, and patient- with me, with others, and with yourself.

Unimaginable news: FINALLY- my natural speaking voice didn't get copyright claimed!
So this means there is HOPE for me in the future! For those who don't know, my natural speaking voice has been getting copyright claimed about 75% of the time for the past 4 years.
I've taken down dozens of videos- the ones that survived the claim checks are still up. The audio on those ones was hyper-edited, and I had to do a ridiculous amount manual pitch shifting and pitch bending (applying filters and effects didn't always work). It was WAY TOO MUCH WORK for a zero dollar paycheck.
Why was my voice being claimed? We're still not entirely sure, but my loved ones and I have theories that my natural speaking voice has a resemblance to the Google Maps GPS navigator voice, and a few of the Google Translate voices. For those curious about my nationality/heritage- I'm half Irish and British, half Canadian, I live in Canada, and I speak English and French (although my French is a bit rusty lol).
Also for those of you who [still] don't know- I haven't "quit youtube". I've been uploading to youtube since 2007... and I'm currently working off camera on regional channels as a co-editor, plus doing background tinkering on this lightning-struck channel whenever I have time. Maybe I'll make a separate post about that when I get a chance, we'll see.
Anyway sorry not sorry for the long post, I'm just in absolute disbelief!!! This could seriously change things for the better, and open up more opportunities that wouldn't have otherwise been possible 🩷
