I don't hate hiya toys, I actually like the idea and a handful of figures they've made so here's my opinion on them:
Hiya toys for me has been a mixed experience, the first figure I got was the Pre Evolved figure from GXK and I was so dissatisfied with that figure. The promos for the figure were amazing and the figure looked like it had a really well dusty, weathered wash on it. When I got the figure it was this basic gray under normal conditions and going from the Monsterarts KOTM Godzilla 2019 to it, the hiya felt like a brick in comparison. 3/5
The second figure I ordered from hiya was the Godzilla 2014 and I had insane issues with the head and hands popping off with the slightest touch, I returned the figure and ordered another one to hopefully have no QC issues like the previous one but during the time I ordered it I got the SHMA 2014 spitfire figure for $50 on marketplace so I just cancelled my hiya order after that. 3/5
The third figure I ordered and was the reason me, and my dad hate hiya customer service was the burning Godzilla 2019 figure. I ordered it on their website and after seeing it stuck in shipping for 4 months almost a couple states down from me I reached out to hiya to cancel my order and get refunded the $80 it was because I never received the figure. I know a lot of people who had the same issue with me and had lots of trouble receiving refunds for this figure they never got. 0/5
The fourth and first figure from hiya to impress me was the Ghidorah gravity beams figure. I will say, I liked this figure a lot and it's an amazing figure for the price. The issue for me was that I found a steal on the SHMA ghidorah 2019 SCV figure and when that arrived, I just enjoyed it more than I ever did the hiya. 4/5
The fifth figure I got from hiya and one I like, but should've been more accurate to the promotional images was the Hiya muto. I really like this figure and it has an amazing sculpt and Hiya did a great job engineering joints for the Mutos weird design. I just have an issue with the paint on the figure not being accurate to the promos. 4/5
The most impressive figure from Hiya in my opinion, the Hiya Shimo. I love this figure and it's easily the best figure I got from hiya. Insane detail, paint, articulation, no accessories but it's $60 so I can't even complain. 1000000/5
Hiya Hokkaido heat ray, good figure, worth $50, great beam and articulation, needed more detail but it's fine bc articulation makes up. 5/5 because it's also the first super articulated figure of Hokkaido design.
Now that I'm done talking about a company making Godzilla figures I can say like hiya, but definitely mixed on it. It's got figures I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole like skull island Kong and Kong 2021 first release, and it's got amazing figures like Hiya Shimo.
I am biased to SHMA, l'Il admit. I've been watching YouTube videos on their figures for over 10 years now and I just enjoy the way they stylize their figures, articulate them, and I enjoy the materials they use on their figures. I've been with SHMA since practically the start with my first figure being the 1995 birth version Godzilla.
Hiya Kiryu looks good…. But I got the SHMA Kiryu and SOC Kiryu so I don’t need it, hiya Kiryu is $120 which is pricey considering the SHMA Kiryu was $98 when it first launched and had dicast metal in it for extra stability.
