Narrow‑Body Comfort on Long Flights

Over the last few years we’ve seen a major shift in long‑haul flying. Routes that were traditionally operated by wide‑body aircraft are now being flown by new‑generation narrow‑bodies like the Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 737 MAX. Airlines such as TAP Air Portugal and Iberia use narrow‑bodies on transatlantic flights to the USA and Caribbean, while JetBlue connects the U.S. East Coast with Europe using the A321LR/XLR.

With IndiGo now launching Mumbai–Athens and New Delhi–Athens using the A321XLR, long‑range single‑aisle operations are becoming even more common.

Tomorrow, Saturday 7 March 2026 at 15:00 local time, an ad‑hoc Emirates Airbus A380 flight is scheduled to arrive at Athens International Airport (ATH).

This is a rare A380 appearance for Athens, so aviation fans and spotters might want to keep their cameras ready.

A video captures two highly unusual moments in modern aviation.
According to the ICAO Safety Report 2024, the Sunclass Airlines hard landing at Skiathos was officially classified as the only aviation accident in Greece that year. Yet the same aircraft later performed an actual take‑off from Skiathos — an extremely rare occurrence for an accident‑classified airframe.
Adding to the uniqueness, the A321 departed from a runway reduced to just 1,400 meters due to ongoing works, making this take‑off even more extraordinary.
