I could have never imagined — when we began shooting in May of 2022 — that we would’ve gotten this far. We certainly hoped we would have something to show for our efforts, but nothing is ever guaranteed. This means a lot to me and I’m very grateful to everyone who has helped us get here — I could’ve have done it without you.
And thank you to you — for watching my videos and supporting my work. It’s helped me more than you know.

So, in 2022 I directed my first feature film with a bunch of brilliant South Australian filmmakers. Two years later, and I reckon it's finally time I let you know what WITHIN THE PINES is all about.
The film follows Sam Evans, an experienced sound recordist, as he travels to an isolated forest in order to capture sounds far away from the noise of civilisation. As Sam ventures deeper, his mic picks up a sound no one wants to hear while alone in the woods.
We made the film on a shoe string budget. 30,000 USD. Principle photography took three weeks and, over the following months, when our cast and crew found time between their 9-5, we shot pick ups and wrapped on reshoots. Then there was the edit, then sound and colour and VFX.
I’ve made plenty of short films over the years, but nothing could prepare me for what a feature film demands of you. It’s crazy how hard it is to piece together an hour plus worth of Movie.
But, the best part of it all - even though it’s terrifying - is when you’re finally able to share it with the world. For WITHIN THE PINES, that’s next week! The film will have its world premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival.
