Are You Missing the iconic tiki palace Don The Beachcomber? So are we - and we are throwing a big reunion bash for all of Don's Ohana to "Relight The Swordfish!" The original Don's sign now resides in Cypress, where it was taken after its rescue by the owners of Lace Music Products, Don and Jeff Lace. The iconic landmark was a beacon for both sailors and seafood lovers, as the lighted swordfish commanded the Sunset Beach sky since 1930, first as Sam's and again as Don's, until the venue closed and the massive sign was one puff of wind away from impaling the tiki roof below it. Together, we can restore the classic Don's sign and have an Ohana Family Reunion party at the same time, with Tonga Hut slinging the cocktails. We are pulling out all the stops to make this an event to remember, with multiple bars, bands and tiki activities on Saturday, May 31. Plan to meet old friends and join us from 2-9 pm for Hawaiian food, music and craft cocktails. Help us raise the money needed to renovate the vintage metal sign, and be there as we Relight The Swordfish! 👉Stellar Shows, Tikiyaki and BigToe Art present...."Welcome to ExotiCalifornia !" - An evening of Exotic Music and Art, celebrating California's rich history of Tiki, Exotica and everything California Polynesian Pop.
👉Live musical performance by the world famous Tikiyaki Orchestra, with special guests The Hukilau Hotshots in the Crystal Ballroom in Long Beach, CA, with a special, California/Exotica-themed art opening curated by famed Tiki/Lowbrow artist BigToe aka Tom Laura.
👉The art opening, featuring original works by over 25 artists will display in the Crystal Ballroom foyer and bar area, with cocktail reception opening pre-show, and will be on display throughout the evening, with the Tikiyaki Orchestra and Hukilau Hotshots performing in the main ballroom in the evening. There will be food trucks in front featuring exotic food dishes, and select exotic cocktails in the bar, as well as a few select vendors inside the ballroom.
Come celebrate California's rich history of Exotica, Tiki and Polynesian Pop. *Various seating levels available including VIP table, standard table seating and general admission. *Art opening is open to the public, however, ticket purchase required for musical performance.
