The night opens with a live performance by Tikiyaki Orchestra, delivering their signature blend of lush exotica, mid-century lounge and surf, and cinematic soundscapes — setting the perfect tone for a journey into the fascinating life of the pioneer of Polynesian Pop….Don The Beachcomber.
Following the performance, audiences will be treated to a screening of The Donn of Tiki, the acclaimed documentary exploring the wild, myth-soaked life of Donn Beach — the visionary who helped invent tiki culture and redefined escapism in American pop history.
After the film, stay for a live Q&A with filmmakers Alex Lamb and MaxWell, offering behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the documentary, the truth behind the legend, and the enduring cultural impact of tiki.

Aloha, and from us here in the Tikiyaki Orchestra
We've been quiet here, but for good reason... We've been hard at work finishing the upcoming brand new album by Tikiyaki & the Hawaiiana Brass, and are now happy to report that it is done, and off to the record pressing plant.

We're super excited to share this new sound with you all...
Something we like to call "Post-Exotica"...very much resembling that fun, upbeat sound popularized in the mid to late 1960's, of course, by Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass, but also tons of great film and TV scores and theme songs of the era...Very upbeat, a little bit groovy, a bit pop, but still that thread of Exotica and Lounge you've come to know and love from the Orchestra.

We're looking at an Early May release, with vinyl pre-orders starting mid February. Of course, those of you on this mailing list will be the first to know when pre-ordering starts. Sign up on our mailing for early info on vinyl pre-orders and ticket sales at www.tikiyakiorchestra.com

Oh, just in case you're wondering, the band is not changing it's sound, just expanding it....The Hawaiiana Brass will be another entity of Tikiyaki, like Tikiyaki 5-0, so now, it's like there's 3 bands ! We're just trying to keep it fresh and interesting, folks.

Also, I will be getting back to creating video content for Tikiyaki TV, which had to take a backseat to the work being done for completing this new album, so look for more content soon on the youtube channel as well....

Are You Missing the iconic tiki palace Don The Beachcomber?
So are we - and we are throwing a big reunion bash for all of Don's Ohana to "Relight The Swordfish!"
The original Don's sign now resides in Cypress, where it was taken after its rescue by the owners of Lace Music Products, Don and Jeff Lace.
The iconic landmark was a beacon for both sailors and seafood lovers, as the lighted swordfish commanded the Sunset Beach sky since 1930, first as Sam's and again as Don's, until the venue closed and the massive sign was one puff of wind away from impaling the tiki roof below it.
Together, we can restore the classic Don's sign and have an Ohana Family Reunion party at the same time, with Tonga Hut slinging the cocktails.
We are pulling out all the stops to make this an event to remember, with multiple bars, bands and tiki activities on Saturday, May 31.
Plan to meet old friends and join us from 2-9 pm for Hawaiian food, music and craft cocktails.
Help us raise the money needed to renovate the vintage metal sign, and be there as we Relight The Swordfish!
The outdoor concert line-up includes Tikiyaki 5-0, The Volcanics, Little Kahuna and many surprises yet to come.

👉Stellar Shows, Tikiyaki and BigToe Art present...."Welcome to ExotiCalifornia !" - An evening of Exotic Music and Art, celebrating California's rich history of Tiki, Exotica and everything California Polynesian Pop.

👉Live musical performance by the world famous Tikiyaki Orchestra, with special guests The Hukilau Hotshots in the Crystal Ballroom in Long Beach, CA, with a special, California/Exotica-themed art opening curated by famed Tiki/Lowbrow artist BigToe aka Tom Laura.

👉The art opening, featuring original works by over 25 artists will display in the Crystal Ballroom foyer and bar area, with cocktail reception opening pre-show, and will be on display throughout the evening, with the Tikiyaki Orchestra and Hukilau Hotshots performing in the main ballroom in the evening.
There will be food trucks in front featuring exotic food dishes, and select exotic cocktails in the bar, as well as a few select vendors inside the ballroom.

Come celebrate California's rich history of Exotica, Tiki and Polynesian Pop.
*Various seating levels available including VIP table, standard table seating and general admission.
*Art opening is open to the public, however, ticket purchase required for musical performance.
