Tim de Man - Game Music

Welcome to my channel! I'm a composer and arrange & compose video game music for piano and Celtic instrumentation. There's a lot of Zelda (especially Breath of the Wild), but also Mario, Animal Crossing and more!

I offer sheet music free of charge! My channel is supported by Patrons, who get fancy sheet music ebooks and MIDI files. If you like what I do and are in the position to do so, please consider supporting me through Patreon =) .

Some more positive news: the game I had a blast writing 2 hours of music (!) for last year now has a demo on Steam! If a colourful 3D fantasy game with dynamic combat and cosy shop vibes sounds like your thing, why not give it a whirl?

Hi everyone, last Friday I had surgery on my elbow and it went as planned. Recovery has been steady, I'm reducing the amount of painkillers and trying to get some more mobility. Yesterday I even played some Mario Galaxy 2! Thank you so much for your kind words, it's going to take some time before I can play piano again – I expect at least the remainder of the month. We'll see, stuff like this happens and we just have to take it in stride. Hope you're all doing well! <3

Hi everybody! I wanted to do more Silksong stuff this week, and was working on an arrangement for Strive, but then I fell off my bike. Or actually, it was a collision of two bikes, which resulted in me breaking my elbow in two places :/. Not fun, but could've been worse. Of course, playing piano with one hand is only reserved for gimmick videos so I'll have to take a piano break for at least a couple of weeks. I do have some ideas about other cool arrangements I could make with one hand or no hands at all, so maybe I'll figure something out... Hope to be back on the arranging train soon!

Just finished Silksong, 87% in 63 hours. All in all, amazing game. Consistent in it's high quality, mega polished, so much content, great setting, great game feel and satisfying conclusion with an appropriate amount of references to the original. At times it goes a little too hard on trolling the player, but in all of these cases there are (hidden) ways to alleviate those situations. How are you faring?

The Silksong Tracks seem to be reinvigorating the channel - it's still early days, but if this keeps up the channel will be back at pre-TotK levels views-wise which would be very welcome for my motivation * :P . In any case it's been super inspiring working on these and I'm glad y'all are enjoying them!

Bonus nonsense poll!

* 2020-2023, views wise, was the golden age of this channel, averaging 5000 views per day. Age of Calamity + Animal Crossing, along with Zelda Musical Speculation and mopping up some BotW tracks. It gave me the inspiration to start working on Open Air and Hyrule Highlands, both of which have become near and dear to my heart, and has been the prime way for me to find clients as a composer!

When TotK released, for some reason the views count declined sharply to half about that. Maybe the pre-release hype had been fuelling my channel for all those years, maybe COVID was responsible for that three-year bump, or maybe TotK didn't have as much music that people clicked with. Nothing I did - streaming, more Zelda, less Zelda, Celtic, Orchestral, shorts - did much to alleviate that beyond short bursts of views which died down quickly.

My Patrons and regular listeners definitely helped in keeping my channel alive, but now finally getting some tiny (if perhaps shortlived) success again does feel nice. It inspires me to work on arrangements more regularly, and with how great the Silksong tracks are and suit my style it's a great combination of what I'd *like* to do with what connects with my listeners and YouTube as a whole. So thank you for being here, and thank you for coming to my TED Talk!

MIDI files for the recent Silksong arrangements - and all other piano arrangements on the channel - are now available on my Patreon for tiers €5 and up! More Silksong coming next week, I'm still obsessed by it and it's music is some of the best I've heard in years.

Have a great weekend!

I've got good news and more good news! If you like Silksong: there's more arrangements on their way! If you don't like Silksong: a new Mario Kart World video is up now for Patrons: "Great ? Block Ruins"! It'll make it's way onto the channel on a later date depending on how Silksong stuff does.

More info about becoming a Patron on Patreon.com/timdeman - if you'd like to help keep the lights on and get some cool stuff go check it out! :D

Happy Silksong Day! :D

Edit 1: oops, eShop and Steam both died when it released xD

Edit 2: welp I think it's really good so far... Much quicker start than Hollow Knight - still a little slow perhaps, but it's opening is quicker and more compact and movement upgrades come quicker. Also dang, these vibes are immaculate...
