Al Qawarir Ladies Channel

I’ve received many requests over the years to host a session on homeschooling, but I’ve always hesitated. I never felt knowledgeable enough to speak on it with certainty.
However, I’ve decided to break that silence.
This Sunday, inshaAllah, I’ll be hosting an honest and much-needed conversation about homeschooling, not as an expert, but as a mother who is still learning, navigating, and struggling herself.
We’ll talk openly about the good, the challenges, what works, what doesn’t, what success really looks like, and who homeschooling is (and isn’t) for.

This will be a candid discussion where I’ll share my personal opinions only; not advice, not rules, and not a one-size-fits-all solution.
The intention isn’t to tell anyone what they should do, but to create space for honesty, reflection, and mutual learning.

📍 Zoom link will be shared in this group before the session, inshaAllah, for those who wish to use the mic
(please don’t join if you’re already part of an Empowered Mothers group):

▶️ Live session will be free on YouTube

Feel free to invite friends who may benefit from this discussion.

⏰ 11:00 am (UK time)

If you’ve been homeschooling flawlessly for years, or if you’re completely against it, I humbly invite you to join us this Sunday and share your perspective too. This conversation is richer when different experiences and opinions are present.

Tomorrow’s live is about awareness. You don’t need to be going through a crisis to benefit from this live. Awareness protects families before things fall apart.

It’s about what to do when something feels off,
how to think clearly, what steps to take, and how to make decisions you won’t regret later bi-idhnillah.
These are skills that don’t just apply to infidelity.
They help when your spouse is hiding any big secrets. I learned these tools after spending hundreds on workshops and courses, and tomorrow I’m sharing them completely free during the live session.

If this kind of awareness matters to you, give this video a thumbs 👍 up so I know I’ll see you tomorrow inshaAllah. youtube.com/live/8wjKe9D3br8?si=lI5S2VmqhYBAfOx5

✨ Golden Milk — Your Winter Best Friend ✨

One of the things my mother taught me was to have golden milk during winter.
I make it now whenever I miss her, be it winter or not.
It’s not just incredibly calming;
it feels like my mother’s hug in a cup 💖

It’s simple, gentle, and deeply nourishing:
• Supports immunity
Turmeric is incredibly healing and anti-inflammatory.
It protects and helps fight winter diseases.
Ginger and spices help the body stay strong during cold season.
• Calms the nervous system
Warm milk with spices helps kids (and adults) wind down
and sleep better.
• Aids digestion
Ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper gently support the gut.

How to make it:
• Raw turmeric (crushed)
• Fresh ginger (sliced)
• Milk (dilute with water if you prefer it light)
• Cinnamon (Ceylon preferably)
• A pinch of black pepper (optional)
• Honey (to taste)
• Vanilla (optional)
• Cardamom (optional)
Put any combination of the above ingredients together.
Simmer everything gently, taste as you go,
strain if needed, and serve warm.
Let the kids help.
Have them throw in the cinnamon stick, the ginger — this… that.
When they’re involved, they’re much more likely to drink it.

✨ Making new family traditions is a beautiful thing ✨

Sometimes your child suddenly becomes emotional, irritable, or completely unreasonable over the smallest thing… and you’re left wondering, “Are they testing boundaries?” Being defiant? Learning rude behaviours from their friends?
But a very common, often overlooked reason for these sudden meltdowns is far simpler:

HANGRYNESS!!
Hungry + Angry = Hangry!
Hangryness = anger triggered by hunger.

Kids don’t always recognise hunger cues the way adults do.
So their body speaks for them through crying, refusing instructions, or sudden outbursts that look like “bad behaviour.”
Wise mamas are often prepared for such scenarios. They have snacks at hand for those times. I keep some raisin containers, cheese sticks, etc. for those occasions.

Common hangry times:
⭐ Early mornings. Many children aren’t hungry immediately after waking up, so they skip or barely eat breakfast… then, mid-morning, the hunger hits hard and the outbursts begin. (Those morning fights on the weekend, anyone? 😉)
⭐ After school. They’ve spent hours using up mental and physical energy, and by the time the day ends, their bodies are running on empty. Even the short ride or walk home can feel overwhelming for them. Offering a snack the moment you meet them can prevent those hangry outbursts before they even begin.
⭐ After any intensive physical or mental activity like swimming, boxing, or even doing a Qur’an lesson.
⭐ Before naps or bedtime. Energy dips naturally, making them more sensitive and reactive.
Offer regular snacks at predictable times, even before they ask. A small, healthy bite can completely change their mood and behaviour.

You can also guide them to understand their body’s signals:
⭐ “Is your tummy feeling empty?”
⭐ “Are you getting upset because your body needs fuel?”
⭐ “Let’s eat something so you feel better.”
Often, your child isn’t being difficult, their body is trying to communicate something!
