Another installment of the UK's "Online Safety Act" has released, this time requiring UK users on Steam to verify their age/identity through a credit card check, and yes, it has to be a credit card not a debit card. Whilst this is currently an opt-in measure, it is required if you want to view mature rated video game store pages or community tabs.

As a fellow Britbong, the situation surrounding this law specifically seems to be becoming more and more comedic, in a terrifying, overreaching kind of way. (New videos are being prepared, keep an eye out ;))

It seems like a lot of things are happening with regards to current internet freedoms for those of us who live in many western nations and every time i get around to writing a script and making a video, it's already out of date and seems like to be beaten an already dead horse... so to speak.

I'm probably not going to make a video dedicated to the topic purely because it's all the internet seems to be talking about right now (though for good reason), but when any new developments arise out of the blue I'll ensure to cover it in a video.

Anyways, here is another apology for not releasing a video this past month, I know I've previously stated that I would release a video before September and whilst I have a couple video scripts written up, I don't think they're worth making into videos considering what I've just mentioned above.

But trust me, once I have a good, structured video lined up, you'll see it! Thanks for sticking around, I really appreciate it from every single one of you!

So, if you've been reading up on the news recently you might have spotted that the UK has introduced the "Online Safety Act" that imposes restrictions on the kind of content people can see on the internet without providing some form of government issued ID, supposedly to protect the children (an argument as old as time).

Of course, It's already being used to restrict content on platforms like X depicting the various "social disturbances" taking place around the country for various reasons (ifkyk) because it might overtly impact children in a negative way. Now there are backstage talks from government ministers raising the idea of restricting VPN companies that operate in the UK.

Biggest load of goofy nonsense I've heard since they banned "ninja swords" and "zombie knives" to stop people spaloinking each other in the streets of Birmingham and London.
