Hello, I'm Bybreen Samuels. Welcome to The Smart Years, home of Industries of One. A place for Baby Boomer women who refuse to be counted out.
You've spent decades building skill, wisdom, talents and dreams, but society hasn't caught up. Stop waiting for permission because you're not just one thing. You're your own industry. Together, we're Industries of One, not a homogenous group. We're women building unrepeatable businesses from everything we've lived.
I teach:
Astrology for Reinvention — natal chart insight for growth and business planning
Astrological Timing — peak periods for launching, and rest windows for living well
Solo Business Strategy — jargon-free ways to repackage your expertise into premium service.
My background: software engineer (retrained at 54), astrologer, strategist (raised £895,775 via one proposal), author, BBC contributor, and magazine publisher.
If you can't afford to retire, or don't want to, this channel is for you. Become your own industry of one.

2026 Astrology Peak Period Power Hour
Are you ready to make 2026 a year of intentional moves instead of guesswork?
You’ve got loads of ideas for next year ranging from launches, offers, a business, or a career shift. But the problem is you’re not sure WHEN to move.
You don’t want to waste more energy pushing at the wrong time. Or, miss the windows when things would flow more easily. That “I hope this is the right moment” guesswork is the pain this session solves.
In this focused 60 minute, tailored astrology session, I use Zodiacal Releasing, an ancient astrological timing technique, to turn your year into a clear timing map.
Before we meet, I’ll run your Zodiacal Releasing Framework to identify your preparatory, peak and completion phases for 2026. On the call, we’ll plug a couple of your real goals into those windows so you can stop guessing and start acting with confidence.
By the end of your 2026 Astrology Peak Period Power Hour, you will:
Know your key “green light” periods for launches, visibility and big decisions.
See which months are best for prep, building systems and behind-the-scenes work.
Understand your natural completion / integration phases so you’re not forcing outcomes at the wrong time.
Leave with a simple 2026 timing map. Plus 3–5 concrete, aligned moves to make in your peak periods.
This is perfect if you’re planning a solo business, new offers, a career pivot or a major reinvention in 2026. If you want to use your personal natal birth chart to give you practical and strategic clarity, then book your Power Hour!
NB: The only personal details I need prior to the session are your: Date, Time and Place of Birth.
Head to my Stan Store - stan.store/BybreenSamuels and choose - 2026 Astrology Peak Period Power Hour. I have a selection of dates and times throughout December on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Pay just £147 to secure your slot.

Mastery, Pressure, and the Calm Within - Notes from
Si-Fu Julian Hitch
This morning at The New Normal's Monthly Meeting, I heard Si-Fu Julian Hitch speak about mastery and human potential, and it landed deeply. It took me right back to my teenage years training in martial arts. And, to the 12 years I spent as a practicing SGI Buddhist during my 40s and 50s. The body, the breath, the mind under pressure, are old friends.
Mastery is a process, not a title. Volume, variety, intention, pressure, micro‑focus, and reflection are the levers that compress years of progress into months. It’s not just practice, it’s how we practice.
Tools don’t equal wisdom. More tech can make us slower or less aware if we outsource our instincts. AI is brilliant, but it lacks context, embodiment, and principles. As humans, this is what we provide. Stress is contagious. As a leader, your nervous system sets the room. The real skill is staying relaxed under increasing pressure. You can do this through breath, movement, and presence.
Follow your body to find intuition. When your mind is noisy, instead of continually thinking about the problem, move your body. Breath and simple patterns return us to signal, not noise. Intuition isn’t a concept, it’s a feeling that arrives when the system is regulated.
Learn fast by designing for it. You can do this by: reducing volume, creating variety, having a learning mindset, adding pressure, improve one thing at a time, then write it down and reflect on it. Compound that and your curve changes.
Why does it matters for Baby Boomers?
Many of us hold decades of experience, but progress can stall when we stop designing our learning. Reinvention in our 50s, 60s, and beyond is less about talent and more about repeatable practice under kind pressure. The monk and the martial artist agree: mastery is a daily practice.
Here are 4 prompts for an AI‑confident, stress‑resilient encore.
1) Have one micro-focus per week
Choose a single skill to improve. For example, it could be finding ways to improve your offer. Track and analyse it . Small steps can lead to big gains.
2) Create a volume and variety repeatable plan
Do 20 fast reps of the same task, then 5 reps in three different contexts or audiences. See what is valuable and continue doing it.
3) Intentional pressure
Start by stretching yourself in a gentle way. This could be sharing a draft of something you're working on, publicly. Or, teaching a 5‑minute lesson, live. Or, asking for feedback from a peer. Create eough challenge to grow, in a way that doesn't overwhelm you.
4) End of the day reflections
Hand write a summary of what you tried, what improved and what you'll change tomorrow.
After Julian's session, I was reminded that wisdom is embodied, practiced, and shared. The tech is powerful but as humans, we are decisive. Our encore years are the perfect dojo.

What iFly Taught Me About Confidence
Yesterday, I turned 62 and enjoyed my first iFLY skydiving session. As I pirouetted through the air it anchored how I think about confidence. Many people say and believe that confidence comes after you leap into action. For me, that's partially true. I see and experience confidence as a continuum. It starts as a thought or feeling that leads to a decision. Once made, it is strengthened through the process of doing. Each action stacks on top of the other and as a result of this, confidence expands after the action is complete.
Before I stepped into the wind tunnel, my excitement and first thought blended into a simple, I can do this. Not because I felt fearless, but because I chose a sentiment that served me. Then, came the decision to put my flight suit on. Once, I was kitted out, I paid close attention to the instructor. This sealed my commitment and that decision created momentum.
Inside the tunnel, confidence didn’t arrive all at once. It came in moments in the form of tiny adjustments suggested by my instructor's cues. For instance, I had to simultaneously keep my chin up and have my legs as straight as possible. Both while relaxing my shoulders and breathing naturally. This is the doing phase of the continuum. The part where confidence is built, not borrowed. It’s iterative, with a feedback loop that helps to embody improvements.
When I stepped out, the final layer revealed itself namely, the strength that only comes after you’ve done the thing. It's not bravado, it's evidence. The kind you can’t fake because it changes your posture, your presence, and your ability to trust yourself.
This is how reinvention really works, especially in our Smart Years:
It begins with a thought that honours possibility.
It’s confirmed by a decision that sets direction.
It’s built in the doing, through practice, feedback, and small adjustments.
Finally, it’s reinforced by the strength you gain after you act.
So no, confidence doesn’t simply arrive after the leap. It’s a living continuum that embraces thought, decision, action and strength. By repeating this process, eventually the moment will arrive when the new version of you feels natural.

This morning’s Grow London Local Coffee was another confirmation of how intention, community and connection are the real engines behind every successful reinvention.
Surrounded by fellow entrepreneurs and change makers, I was inspired by the stories, the laughter and spirit of collaboration in the room. Whether you’re starting your own encore business or launching your next big idea, never underestimate the power of showing up and building relationships.

Milestone Monday - A moment from behind the scenes. My journey to swim 5km continues. I swam 54 lengths using a combination of #breaststroke and #frontcrawl. I’ve got another 146 lengths to go🙌🏾. I loved the #ParisOlympics and hope to gain even more inspiration from the #Paralympics. What’s your favourite sport and exercise routine? I’d love to know.
