Terra Frutis is a fruit-based "intentional community" and permaculture fruit forest located in southeast Ecuador, in the pristine tropical rainforest. With superb climate, streams, river access, and a remote location, there is much potential for a thriving community and excellent fruit. Do you want to move to the tropics and help develop a fruit forest and community? Consider making Terra Frutis your destination.

Do you know any solar companies that would like to sponsor Terra Frutis?
You might have seen in the news that Ecuador has been suffering from droughts in the Andes which has lead to power outages throughout the country. Unfortunately we have not been immune to these issues because the vast majority of our power comes from the grid.
We have a small solar panel (pictured) that with its battery full charged can support our Starlink internet connection for about 4 hours, the standard duration of the power outages. This means that we do not have to suffer from internet outages, so Terra Frutis remains a great location for digital nomads through the power outages.
However, the increased reliance on our small solar set-up has us inspired to improve and upgrade our system to be able to support more, and maybe even all of our power needs. This would be a big expense, and because we are run on donations we don't currently have the capacity to handle this additional expense. We would love to find a solar company who would like to help us out with a better solar set-up with bigger batteries and panels that could support our community and help us to put more of our resources into reforestation and carbon sequestration. By our (rough) calculations we are already at least carbon neutral, but this upgrade could allow us to very easily reduce our carbon emissions, and make our community more resilient to outside forces.
Comment if you have any leads or ideas, we'd love to hear them!

Another gem from the archive - Terra Frutis featured in the local newspaper back when we were supplying fresh coconuts to Gualaquiza market.

We are eating jackfruit almost everyday at the moment. On it's own, in smoothies, ice cream, dehydrated, the seeds cooked. What's your favourite way to eat jackfruit?
