FUN FACT! Barb’s costume is repurposed from a zombie movie I starred in several years ago. It was a short shot overnight in a graveyard and during filming I made an effort to thank and apologize to the spirits of the people whose plots we trod on. I also prayed that I wouldn’t wind up haunted or possessed. I didn’t really believe that I would but just in case 😆 They also shot the movie without sound, so I had to go to a sound stage to re-record all of my lines after the film was cut together, which was HARD because I needed to match the exact tone and inflection I had made in the graveyard to get the line I was dubbing to match what my face and mouth were doing on the screen but the magic of the moment was gone. Anyway, the shirt and sweater combo were purchased from Kohl’s and that’s just so Barb.

In case anyone is new and confused….
I do lots of stand alone skits with characters and scenarios we never see again. The babydoll is in a lot of those. Not a real baby (!!) but representative of all the babies who have ever been. These skits usually highlight the oft-overlooked absurdity in the transformation from regular person to mom 💗

But a I do have so me recurring characters and storylines…
1. Shawna. She’s not me, she just has my name. Slightly neurotic, sometimes awkward, very sincere and means well. She’s sort of the “everymom”
2. Shawna is married to John, a lovable horndog & all around good guy. Coincidentally my real life husband is also named John. Skit John is not real John despite the obvious similarities.
3. Skit John has a mom named Barb. She’s Shawna’s MIL. Barb is pretty toxic, an emotionally immature gaslighter & guilt-tripper😵‍💫 John’s little sister is Jen, she used to be toxic but is learning a better way since getting knocked up.
4. Jen’s baby daddy is Greg, he is the greenest green flag and makes us all swoon.
5. Shawna’s mom is Delores aka DeeDee aka Mama D, a loving, supportive, no-nonsense matriarch.
6. Barb is married to Frank, John and Jen’s dad. He’s new to skits because he’s usually disassociating in the den.
7. Shawna is bffs with Laura, who just had a baby. Laura is married to Luke who does the bare minimum while invalidating Laura’s feelings. Boo Luke.
8. Shawna met a dad at the park named Ty. Unforch, Ty is married to Julie and for some reason Julie seems displeased with Shawna. Time will tell wtf is happening here…
9. And there are more characters to come because I looooove this little world we’ve all built!!

I am slowly putting all the backstories into compilations so you can easily watch them at any time to refresh your memory. 😁
