This week I spent 25 sweaty hours in a recording booth reading the audiobook for my memoir, and I got to do it because of all of you.

Thank you sooooo much for being here. I am eternally grateful.

I’m used to telling fictional stories with the series I’ve created. But now, with this book, I’m telling my own story ~ about how the transformative experience of becoming a mother also gave birth to my creative point of view. It’s so damn crazy and scary to take all of the joy and pain of my real life triumphs and failures and distill it all down into 200-ish pages, but sometimes you just gotta try something and see what happens!

2. La Quinceria Mexican Restaurant ~ probably the only restaurant in town.

La Quinceria combines words from the Spanish language ~ Taqueria (Taco shop) and Quince (15) or Quinceañera (huge 15th bday milestone in Mexican tradition) to form a name the local gringos are sure to remember!

3. Las Rubias is a fictional city in California, a state famous for giving its cities Spanish language names ~ sometimes the names are descriptive (ex Buena Vista = beautiful view), sometimes the names are referential (ex Santa Monica = Saint Monica, Aliso Viejo = old Sycamore tree), sometimes the words are nonsensical or made up (Calimesa = a portmanteau that conceptually means California Plateau, lol).

Las Rubias means “the blondes”

Because, underneath it all, every single character in this city is blonde. 🙋🏼‍♀️
