I've just published my first story The Escape on Substack. I had previously published it on Tumblr but it didn't get the traction I wanted. I guess this is a good time to reveal that I plan on releasing a video book version of the story, complete with visuals, narration by me, and original music also made by me. What is a video book, you might ask? I would define it as essentially an audiobook with visuals. I did not coin this term, as I got it from the channel @videobooks, which you can check out through this link right here: youtube.com/@videobooks3
I previously alluded to my greater plans for the channel in the description for the S.A.M. film that no one read. To reiterate what I said there, I have huge plans for this channel that go far beyond music. In fact, the music itself really only exists as a means to an end. I had a lot of fun making these pieces of music but at the end of the day, my music career was really a method of experimentation so when I went to make video-books, I would be able to soundtrack them myself rather than get an outside composer. I have nothing against outside composers but I currently don't have the money to pay one. I'm currently looking for another job because my current one isn't giving me any hours. I've already applied for a few jobs but none of them have called so far. So far, this channel is one of the only other ways I could make a living but the problem is barely anyone subscribed is actively watching the content. Without enough watch time, I won't be able to monetize the channel which will not only allow me to survive in these tough times but be able to do more with this channel than I currently able to.
I don't mean to sound like an ungrateful sourpuss but this is what I have to worry about simply because I was unlucky to not be born as a part of the 1%. Nonetheless, I'm still committed to this channel even if no one else is. After the full Elemental Symphonies suite is released, which will be on September 5, I play to take a bit of a sabbatical away from music to refocus on my writing so I can finish more stories and put out more video books. I also plan on using that time to work on this video essay I've been thinking about for at least a few years now. It's going to be called The History of Serialization and it's going to be focused on how serialized storytelling has evolved from Victorian era novels to today's streaming shows. I'm going to release it in six 15-minute parts before releasing it as one video around 90 minutes long. Finally, I plan to release a Christmas-themed suite in December. Besides that, don't expect any more new music for at least a year.
I hope people give me a chance to show what I can offer to the world. Anyway, that will be all. More to come soon.
