2020 Hot Shot Trucking LLC

I created this channel to promote and educate others on the hot shot trucking business. I've been too busy between running loads in the southeast and taking care of my 84 year old mother to publish any videos. Mom has had two strokes in the past month so now I'm a full time caretaker who is also paying a hefty truck and trailer insurance premium. Her income is too high to qualify for any assistance, and I'll be damned if I'm putting her in a home.

Please check out my website for more information.

Stay safe and keep on trucking!

The problem with once being the IT manager at a business is you just know there's always better ways to accomplish a task than to buy something off the shelf.

This tiny computer (I had NO idea it was THIS small!) will become a router in my Peterbilt. The little screens are just for a status screen - it was a 2 pack but I only needed 1.

After I get it working I'll find a case for it and post a video. A project like this beats watching YouTube all day!

My security detail wants to do something to the non English speaking dirtbag that jumped the line to unload.

Driver in front of me was here first. As a matter of respect, I would not pass him. We both walked up the hill to where they are unloading these concrete storm water modules to see if they were on site. That's when the dirtbag passed both of us.

I had words with the "driver" but knew it was a waste. He had to use a translator APP... Eastern European.

The excavator operator came and talked to each driver. He wasn't happy about the dirtbag either but said he will unload us in the order of arrival.

The inspectors were out early this morning surveying Helene damage.

Thankfully she tracked further east than predicted and this is the worst of it.

Let the fun begin...

Saves me about $500 for dismount / mounting of 8 tires. 4 drive tires and 4 trailer tires.

Guess I don't have to worry about that 20 minute delay ahead. I'm sure they will have that wreck cleaned up by time I get that far...

Not only did this driver drop his trailer in a fire lane, but he turned around and pissed... at a shipper/ receiver.

Shame on the mess!

It's amazing how loud these things are...

Rear axle on a 53' trailer and still sounded like a gun shot!

One of the realities of buying an older truck that spent part of it's life in the rust belt is dealing with corroded hardware. While home in between trips I decided to tackle the tail light assembly.

There really wasn't much holding those lights in place and I had one light that came unplugged twice on my last trip.

I had bought a pallet of scrap steel at an auction last year and in that pile was some 10" X 3" X 1/4" C-channel - perfect for this project.

I welded the ends closed with some 3 X 1.5" angle, and welded on some flat bar to the top and bottom to create a 1/4" thick flange all the way around. Drilled and tapped for 10-32 screws and made a galvanized cover for the rear.

I used some 3/16" weather stripping for gasket material, wired up the new lights with new wire, pigtails, heat shrink wire ties and wire loom.

Stainless screws with blue loctite - I don't expect to have to remove the rear cover as the lights can be pushed in and removed from the bushings.

My boss gave me a day off in the middle of nowhere. Nothing to do but watch the sky...

These guys got here early! 27 degrees, feels like 17. My windshield is so clean as if it wasn't there! Glad for a change of scenery. Will look for more loads and I drop this one tomorrow morning.
