WHY I NO LONGER RECORD WITH HERES JEFFY
About a year ago, I stopped recording with him decided to finally speak up about what happened between me (Marvin) and the owner of the channel formerly known as "here's Jeffy". At one point we were friends and he even encouraged me to make this channel and we started a group with several other creators. It was a ton of fun in the beginning and eventually I was able to quit my editing job and go full time as Here's Marvin. But as the months went on "Johnny", as he is now known, started to become egotistical and condescending towards the whole group… especially me. I later found out from a friend that he was specifically targeting me because he had become jealous of how much money my channel was making. Now at the time his channel was earning a WHOPPING 100 - 150K a month. He then made the decision to no longer record or help out any of the others in the group unless we gave him 40% of our channels earnings. It’s common sense that the "Jeffy character" is the main attraction of SML and since that was the character he was imitating he figured he was entitled to half of all his friends income. So I played the part and in the meantime the person that previously played Jackie CHU in the videos was practicing his Jeffy impression and once it was good enough we ditched John. The whole friend group moved away from him and we are all much happier. I’ve also talked with other SML parody channels and they have had similar experiences where John would threaten them with either ending their friendship or receiving some financial gain from them. If we actually owned these characters what he did could have been considered extortion
