Water Comet Studios

This channel is dedicated to showing off and reviewing as many Toy Story toys as possible. I try my best to review all toys in the most complete form.

(And because I’ve gotten asked far more often than you’d expect: I do not just give away or sell my Toy Story toys. If I didn’t want them I wouldn’t have them in the collection.)

All content uploaded to this channel is created for an audience of 13 years or older and is meant for fellow collectors of Toy Story action figures. I have no intention of creating content solely for children

What my old Sega Genesis AV cables look like before I replaced them with a new set just now. Probably just safer to chuck these

The quality drop on Mattel products apparently extends to Imaginext too. I got one of those blind boxes and was a bit shocked with how stark of a difference between the two “paint” jobs were when comparing it to the figure I got in 2019/2020. It doesn’t show up as well in photos but the new one’s paint and general plastic quality feel about on par with a bootleg, not an officially licensed product. The seam on his right hand is thick enough that it looks like it’d pop out with basic play. Not sure if they just skimped out on the cheap blind box figures but considering how normally high quality and pretty well respected the Imaginext figures are this really sucks.
(The wing one might be a bit different in terms of its molding as the wingless figure, but my original wingless one was chewed up by my puppy in 2021 so I can’t directly compare the two).

I finally managed to pick up a copy of Scare Island on PS2 and complete my Pixar PS2 collection. Considering it’s a PAL game and basically every PS1 and PS2 game’s EU releases I’ve seen have language selects I figured even if this was a French release it’d have an English option.
It does not. It is exclusively French. Les Adventures de Sulli et Bob. Oui oui. And then to make matters even more absurd despite going out of my way to buy the PS3 memory card adaptor for $60 a few months ago to be able to transfer saves between systems and also to be able to put the memory card hack on the PS2 and region free the system, I ALSO learned that my PS2 fat is DEAD, so I can only play this or any other PAL game now through PC emulation (since you can run physical games on them through a disc drive).

Tomy has a new movie scale Hi-Tech Buzz figure out which looks really cool. The wings have a very elaborate opening and closing process.
The import prices, on the other hand, do NOT look very cool.

I see the movie’s message was lost on merchandisers but this was inevitable

I truly forgot how absolutely rotten the Game Boy port of Toy Story was until I played it again to check if the European release had special Game Boy Color palette support (which it does for some reason). Hideous pre-rendered sprites that do NOT improve on a smaller screen, horrible collision detection and bad hitboxes and insanely sluggish controls made worse by the fact that the game runs at like half the speed of the console versions. On top of that all of the bosses and special-er stages are gone and three songs IN THE ENTIRE GAME and you're left with an absolute trainwreck of a port. This and the almost equally wretched Lion King port were my first two original Game Boy games I purchased after getting my Game Boy Color in 2016 and it put me off any other OG GB games for a solid year or so because both made me believe that all non-Color Game Boy games were THIS sluggish and bad.
The biggest issue I have is that I've played it enough that I've actually become somewhat used to the controls and have beaten it multiple times.

I love that even after all of these years the most Vtech's LCD toys have really developed is giving it a backlight and being monochrome instead of just solid black and white. Even the Buzz sprite is just a small reworking of the Toy Story 3 ones.
These are probably the most relevant products Pixar could've released to tie in with the film. "Parents, looking for an alternative to a tablet? Why here's an edutainment toy like the ones in the movie!"

Seeing people completely misunderstand how animation works with the Shrek 5 trailer is insane, I had no idea this many people don’t realize 3D animation isn’t just a drag-and-drop scenario. I saw a comment about having them do another version of the Shrek and Fiona 3D models closer to how they looked in the older ones and that it isn’t that big of an ask because they could just “replace the old models in the scene with the new ones” as if there isn’t a shit ton of extra work that’d have to be done to make the new model look right since even if the model is even slightly off from the armature it can completely throw off the animation, on top of the estimated time it’d take to rerender the entire movie AGAIN just so the characters can look a LITTLE more like what people want.
