🎯 Objective:-

Design for high-volume, automated manufacturing to maximize throughput, reduce cost per part, and ensure consistent quality.

Key Guidelines:-

1. Stamping-Friendly Geometry

* Use consistent radii and gradual transitions; avoid sharp internal corners and undercuts.

* Design flanges, beads, and hems to suit progressive die tooling and minimize springback issues.

2. Robotic Welding & Assembly Compatibility

* Provide clear robot fixturing surfaces and datum points for repeatable positioning.

* Minimize occluded/hidden welds; ensure robot access for weld heads and sensors.

3. Early Integration of Fasteners & Clips

* Specify clips, rivets, and self-clinching fasteners early to avoid late design changes.

* Use standard clip families and locate features for automated insertion tools.

4. Reduce Component Count

* Favor multifunctional parts (stiffeners, brackets, stamped features) to replace assemblies.

* Combine parts where possible to lower assembly steps and inventory complexity.

5. Design for Modular Subassembly

* Partition the vehicle into modular subassemblies that can be built, tested, and handled independently.

* Optimize subassembly interfaces for fast robotic joining and minimal tolerance stack-up.

6. Tool & Process Alignment

* Align features with standard press sizes, progressive die stages, and robot cell layouts.

* Specify blind-hole, hole-pattern, and joining locations to match inspection and assembly tooling.

7. Tolerance & Quality Strategy

* Apply tight tolerances only where functional (fit, sealing, safety).

* Use GD&T where needed to control datums; design for easy in-line inspection (optical/CMM/laser).

8. Serviceability & Repairability

* Consider crash-repair paths and replaceable modules to reduce lifecycle cost.

* Standardize fasteners and access panels for after-sales service.
