Investigators say 16 children were found inside a home on Ohmer Street in Hamden, Vinton County, Ohio, after law enforcement executed search warrants tied to an ongoing investigation. The children, reportedly ranging in age from about 18 months to 18 years old, were removed from the home, placed in temporary custody, and taken for medical evaluation, with some said to be in serious condition. Authorities allege the children had been living in horrific and unsanitary conditions, including human waste, and that many were confined for long periods in a small room. Some of the children reportedly had severe developmental delays, including one older child who could not write her own name. Four adults — Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Siders, Gary Siders Sr., and Christina Siders — have been charged with multiple counts of child endangering, and officials say the case involves suspected prolonged abuse and neglect, with the investigation still ongoing.

Charlie's Appeal Denied!
🚨 Breaking Update: The First District Court of Appeal has upheld Charlie Adelson’s convictions and sentence in the 2014 murder-for-hire of FSU law professor Dan Markel.
In a ruling issued today, July 1, 2026, the appellate court affirmed Charlie Adelson’s convictions on all counts — first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation to commit murder. He remains serving a life sentence plus additional time.
Charlie Adelson’s team had pushed for a new trial, arguing the case should have been moved out of Leon County because of intense media coverage and that the jury pool was tainted. They pointed out that of the 96 prospective jurors who knew about the case, 54 had already formed opinions — and all but one believed he was guilty.
The appeals court wasn’t buying it. They ruled the claims weren’t properly preserved for appeal (no written motions or renewed objections before the jury was sworn) and that the limited discussions in the jury assembly room didn’t prove he was denied a fair trial. The court upheld the trial court’s judgment in full.
This keeps Charlie Adelson behind bars alongside his mother Donna Adelson, the convicted hitmen Sigfredo Garcia and Luis Rivera, and the go-between Katherine Magbanua — all serving time in connection with Dan Markel’s murder.
Justice for Dan Markel continues to move forward, one ruling at a time.
