Happy the dog is a conglomeration of many different ideas and character inspirations put into one. While the obvious is Sonic the Hedgehog, here are Happy’s 5 BIGGEST character inspirations!

Tails Miles Prower – The biggest inspiration of all. From design, to personality, to his character arch in Sonic Adventure, Tails and his journey of self discovery outside of his hero Sonic is what truly kickstarted this character.

Sora – Kingdom Hearts main protagonist offers many character traits present in Happy. From his undying loyalty to his friends, to his innocent childish look, this keyblade wielder serves as the heart of Happy’s character.

Happy – Happy, the cute cat from Fairy Tail, is responsible for the name of this OC. Yup. That’s it.

Spongebob SquarePants – The essence of SpongeBob’s nature are the pillar of Happy and sit at the foundation of this character. Both childish, optimistic, kind-hearted, and hyperactive spirits make them one and the same.
