ASOTU | More Than Cars

We create media, news, shows, podcasts, training and live events that empower Car Dealers and Industry Partners to elevate their teams, businesses, and communities.

Providing critical news, commentary, best practices, creative services, candid conversations, speaking engagements and inspiring stories, we believe retail automotive is MORE THAN.

More than transactions. More than store-fronts. More than stereotypes.

It is an industry full of more opportunity for all than any other industry in the world; but only if it continues to be a place where culture, creativity, hospitality and technology converge.

We believe retail auto should be an industry people fight to join. And we’re uniting those who believe it too.

Join us.

If you had to give the 2023 super bowl commercials a grade what would it be?

Check out our ASOTU Reacts to see what we thought of the Ram EV ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIhfh...

There were some big names, bold faces, and new looks in automotive for the Super Bowl.

What stood out? What worked? What flopped? And most importantly, how would you grade the automotive industry's entries into the Super Bowl ad space?

Is dynamic restaurant pricing a good model?

Would you pay more to eat during the lunch rush?

Restaurants are considering taking a page out of the Dealer and Airline playbook by trying their hand at ‘dynamic pricing’ due to the mass adoption of online ordering and digital menu systems.

This could include lowering prices during slow times to maximize staff, etc, and raising prices during peak demand times to maximize profits.

Some like Tim Voss, CTO of Focus Brands, parent of Moe’s Southwest Grill, Schlotzsky’s and other foodservice brands have reservations. They don't want to be in a situation where people are paying different prices for the same thing simultaneously.

What are your thoughts? Is this something you'd endorse or avoid?

(Automotive puns encouraged)

Is Elon Musk a "car guy"?

He's launched a Tesla into space, sold flamethrowers, tequila, shorts, and now a cologne, and challenged Vladimir Putin to single combat... and that's just the start of a long list of stunts that he's pulled off.

His latest gag was carrying a sink into Twitter HQ ahead of his completed purchase of the company. As he walked past the front desk, he remarked, "Let that sink in," with a big grin on his face.

So we put it to you, the amazing automotive community on LinkedIn. You know "car guys," you've seen them, maybe some of you ARE them!

Is Elon a car guy? Let us know your reasoning in the comments below!

How does Tesla feel being called out all the time?

Funny you should ask. We just called Elon, and... he didn't answer, so we don't know for sure.

But, Tesla has cut starter prices on the Model 3 and Model Y in China by 9%. Last week Elon Musk said a "recession of sorts" has started in China and Europe, but he expects Tesla to be "recession-resilient." This price adjustment must be part of such resilience.

Toyota Motor Corporation tested out admitting a mistake with their full-year production targets last week and now has a taste for it.

The high-ranking automaker is reevaluating its EV strategy after sticking pretty hard to its less aggressive plan.

A rewrite of Toyota's $38B EV roll-out plan will be drafted for review by early 2023.
