New JW Rebirth footage confirms something I feared would happen (MASSIVE SPOILER)
The velociraptors are gonna get the worf effect to hype up the Mutadons (if you don’t know, that just means they get bodied to make the Mutadons seem like a bigger and badder threat). That’s why they haven’t been featured much if at all in the marketing.
A damn shame too, that new raptor design looked amazing and it could’ve been a great chance to redeem themselves after nearly a decade of Blue (not that I don’t like Blue but she was definitely controversial).
Coming up with a backstory for Spacegodzilla in the MV, inspired by all the Supernova speculation
Backstory A: my ideal version
Millennia ago, a meteorite hits the earth. It lands in the territory of a Titanus Gojira, who immediately sets out to investigate. Upon discovering the crash site, they notice something strange: what appears to be a moving crystalline substance is oozing out of the meteorite. It suddenly lunges at the Gojira and begins forcefully burrowing into its flesh, revealing itself to be a living alien parasite. The Gojira struggles but is unable to free itself, and as the crystalline creature takes over its head, it falls unconscious and collapses. The struggle and fall of the Titan causes a landslide on a nearby mountain, burying the body.
Fast forward to present day, where a mining operation in the same region uncovers the corpse, which is remarkably well preserved. Monarch establishes an outpost to investigate, but soon after completion they notice unusual signals coming from the body, and only too late realize it’s coming back to life. The revived and mutated Titan breaks out of the facility with ease, revealing itself to have fully transformed into Spacegodzilla. Using its new body to enhance its powers, the alien lifeform seeks to spread itself across the planet to consume and assimilate all life. This inevitably catches the attention of Godzilla, but SpaceG proves an opponent as cunning and smart as he is strong and dangerous. Thanks to using a Titanus Gojira as a host, the alien is able to communicate with Gojira and first tries to convince him to join his side in conquest. Godzilla, confused at first to see another of his kind yet so different to him, becomes aggravated by this, and when SpaceG realizes he can’t recruit him, he opts to just kill him instead, and the fight begins.
Backstory B: the version that’s more friendly to Toho’s rules
It’s pretty much the same thing except the major difference is instead of a random Titanus Gojira becoming parasitized, instead Godzilla himself finds the meteorite initially and has a brief struggle with the alien monster who retreats, however not before absorbing some of Godzilla’s DNA which results in the creature beginning to grow and mutate. In the modern day, this metamorphosis is finally complete and Spacegodzilla returns to earth to finish what he started.
For those who haven’t heard, Godzilla Galaxy Odyessy is an upcoming manga series which will feature Godzilla fighting a brand-new alien monster. They just revealed Goji’s design for the series and he looks really cool!
Love how both the Dominion raptors got a tremendous upgrade in this series. From only existing for basic action sequences to being genuinely intimidating threats.
