Jesse (@planetgeopodcast) and I are planning an upcoming Deep Dive conversation with a volcanology expert about SUPERVOLCANOES! 🌋
So, please COMMENT below any and all questions you have about supervolcanoes!
Like, what makes a volcano super? How many supervolcanoes are there? Are they only present on Earth? Are there supervolcanoes on other planets/moons?🌕🪐

Great news! Jesse (from @planetgeopodcast) and I WILL be doing a recurring (~monthly) Deep Dive series where we really go deep into specific topics to make ~hour-long videos (similar to our previous videos on Earth's oldest rocks, the first continents, the moon-forming impact, etc.)
And to do this, we need YOUR help!
The next deep dive will about Banded Iron Formations (BIFs), so COMMENT below all your BIF-related questions!
I already have some from previous videos (like 'how'd they form' and 'why are they banded'), but if you have any additional questions about BIFs please let us know!
Can't wait for this series. We plan to make about one deep dive a month in 2026, so keep the deep questions coming ;)

Have you ever seen a 'core' of rock?
Cores are very common tools that geologists use to study the planet, but... What exactly can a core tell us about Earth? And how do geoscientists extract this information?
Check out today's video all about geologic 'core' samples and how we use them in geoscience to study Earth's past and future! -> https://youtu.be/B_f5I1joIp8

Did the Moon-forming impact trigger plate tectonics on Earth? Did it kick start life? Could it have delivered Earth's oceans?
...How did this Mars-size object smashing into early Earth around 4.4 billion years ago affect our planet?
You all ask some really great questions and in today's video, Dr. Jesse Reimink from the Planet Geo podcast and I attempt to answer these questions and so much more! -> https://youtu.be/0SHhKnT7pGM
So be sure to check it out, and also let us know if you still have questions! We'd love to make these Deep Dive videos a regular thing ;)

It's finally here! I just posted the 'What we still DON'T know about the KPg Mass Extinction that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs' video: https://youtu.be/noB6aJHAyYI (which is a follow up to my earlier 'What we know so far' video: https://youtu.be/GTyhl4rWsTY )
The concepts presented in these videos are ones I learned during a GSA Field Trip with KPg researchers and I've put tons of links to their recent work as well as other upcoming GSA field trips in the description box of both videos!
Hope you enjoy! ;D

Remember, about a year ago, when I collaborated with the amazing Chris & Jesse of the PlanetGeo podcast? Well we FINALLY got around to answering all your follow up questions about how we determine the age of meteorites despite the alteration during impact, the age of Earth, if there’s stuff older than Earth and our solar system, how and when plate tectonics began on Earth, how pre-plate tectonic Earth might have operated, and how & when the first continental crust vs oceanic crust formed on Earth in today's video: https://youtu.be/ag8vaHd3Mik
Check it out, and let Jesse and I know if you like these deep dives Q&A videos because we are thinking of doing more, if you guys keep asking questions! ;)

Go check out my latest video on Enchanted Rock in TX! This granite dome has made it's way up to Earth's surface THREE separate times in Earth's history and records the history of multiple ancient supercontinents, it is one of the coolest places I've ever been! https://youtu.be/PrO3TB6Ih_I
