🇲🇽 This card is small. What it represents is not.
There's a moment — right after they hand it to you — where your brain has to catch up to what just happened.

The Mexican government looked at your application, reviewed your documents, and said "Yes. You may live here."
On their sovereign land.
As a foreigner.
By choice.

That's not a small thing. That's actually kind of extraordinary when you slow down and let it sink in.

We talk a lot about freedom in the abstract. But Mexican residency is freedom with a laminate on it. 🪪

Freedom to come and go legally. Freedom to know you have an option when your home country feels like it's testing your patience. Freedom to contribute to a different culture, raise your standard of living, and still be fully, legally you.

It's one of the foundational steps toward becoming what I'd call a truly global citizen — someone whose opportunities aren't capped by one zip code or one flag.

I don't take it lightly. I don't think you should either.
