It marks the triumph of good over evil and symbolizes the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, as described in the epic Ramayana. This festival falls on the tenth day of the Hindu calendar's bright fortnight in the month of Ashwin (usually in September or October). People from all walks of life come together to celebrate Dussehra with immense enthusiasm and fervor.

The festivities typically include the burning of effigies of Ravana, which represents the victory of righteousness and truth. Families also clean and decorate their homes, exchange gifts, and enjoy delicious traditional sweets and dishes.
