I'm Autistic, Now What?

I’m a 29 year old late-diagnosed autistic (& ADHD) woman from the UK. Without YouTube, I never would’ve discovered that I am autistic. So now I’m returning the favour! I want to share videos that will help others discover their own neurodivergence and also videos about what to do post this new self-discovery. Post-diagnosis support for autistic adults is scarce. You’re autistic, which is great information to have, but…now what? Is there medication you could take? Is your career right for someone like you? Should you go self-employed? How do you tell your parents? Your employer? And what do you do if they don’t take you seriously?

Basically...how can you use this knowledge to create a life that really emphasises your strengths and minimises your struggles?

I’m still figuring it out! Let’s learn together ♥️

Love,
Meg x

Oh, the dread we used to feel whenever our driving instructors pulled up 😩 Forever hoping they'd cancel a lesson, but alas they never did 💀

One of the things that brought Lewis and me together was our shared hatred for driving lessons 😩😅 It felt like everyone else our age was having this lovely grown-up experience... and we were crying in our rooms after lessons 😅

How did you find learning to drive? How does it work in your country? And how many attempts did it take you to pass? (Lewis and I had 6 attempts between us 🚗 🚗 🚗 🚗 🚗 🚗)

If you want almost 3 hours of us chatting about driving, you can listen to the latest two podcast episodes over on Patreon 🐌 And there's another 24+ hours of podcast to catch up on too!

In episode 20, I discussed how my autism diagnosis has affected my desire to drive (and the very mixed feelings I have about that - I actually felt quite emotional when I was recording).

Thank you so much to all of the wonderful Patreon snails who've been so kind and supportive in the comments! I'm so lucky that you'll listen to my little oversharing moments! 😅💛🐌

Lots of exciting things to come on the channel, and I'm sure I'll be talking about driving at some stage over here too 💛💛💛

Neurodivergent people, what's your favourite season? ☃️🌞🌸🍂

I love summer because it's the one where I feel less depressed lol

But I think that's an unpopular opinion?

Do you wear noise-cancelling headphones in public? Is it ruining your opportunities for connection? 🤔👀

I'm Autistic, Now What?

Phew! It was such a breath of fresh air to react to autism-related content from an actual scientist!!!! Not Joe Rogan or RFK Jr or Zachary Levi or Abbey’s Mom.

Suddenly the world feels (somewhat) sane again!!!! It’s been a hard year so far!!! 😩😂😭

My new Patreon exclusive video is a reaction to an interview with Gina Rippon, a neuroscientist currently promoting her new book, ‘The Lost Girls of Autism’.

In this discussion, she touches on some of the research on autism in women (a lot of which applies to high masking individuals in general).

A lot of what she said resonated with me more than I expected; it was so interesting to hear that other women have discovered they’re autistic after having an allistic child and seeing how easily they take to things like the school environment.

I’d love to know if any of what she said rings true for you, too! It’s available now for all tiers 💛🐌

It's been over a year since the last episode, so we are long overdue for an 'Are the Neurotypicals Okay' moment 😅
