Quick question before I post the full video... did you know your bolted onions are basically a free pollinator garden? 🤔

I was in the garden minding my business when this carpenter bee landed on my onion flowers and just stayed. For 10 whole minutes. I grabbed my phone and caught the whole thing.

And then a hoverfly showed up too. Because apparently my onion blossoms are the hottest spot in the garden right now.

Full reel dropping soon, but tell me... do you pull your onions when they bolt, or do you leave them? Drop it in the comments. ⬇️

I’m THIS close 🤏🏾 to putting my peppers outside… 👀🌶️

but let’s talk about it…

Warm days will have you feeling confident REAL quick
and then one cold night will humble you 😭

Hardening off is not optional.
It’s a process.

A little sun.
A little wind.
Then back inside.

Because one rushed decision
and your plants will let you know immediately.

Slow down.
Pay attention to your temps.
Especially out here in Zone 8b/9a… that weather will switch up on you.

I have been learning about cuetlaxōchitl or poinsettias my entire life. Here’s a childhood picture of me with this beautiful plant (1992) and a photo of me just the other day (2025)! Are there any plants that take you back to your childhood? Or that remind you of a particular event or person?

In our garden, sunflowers aren’t just pretty—they’re powerful teaching tools. My youngest built these LEGO sunflowers while learning about the real ones growing behind us. And now? We’re bringing all that learning to YOU.

🌱 How do you get blooms all season long?
🐝 Are they really pollinator magnets—or just Instagram-worthy?

🌙 Nighttime Garden Harvest After a 13-Hour Day in the Heat! 🌽🍆🌶️

I was in the garden from 7 AM to 8 PM—yes, during this brutal heat wave—and wrapped it all up with this nighttime harvest. I pulled corn, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, yard long beans, and even some dried herbs.

This harvest may look calm and peaceful, but it came after a long day of hard work, heat, and hustle. Gardening isn’t always glamorous, but it’s always rewarding.

Did you know citrus trees are evergreens? 🍊🎄

Here in coastal Georgia, we’re giving a festive twist to tradition by lighting up our orange tree in addition to the classic pine. Because why not let citrus shine this season?

Here’s a fun fact: cold weather plays an important role in ripening oranges! Cooler temperatures can enhance the vibrant orange color as chlorophyll breaks down to reveal the fruit’s natural pigments. However, the sweetness of the fruit depends on time spent on the tree, not the temperature—so a little patience is key!🔑

Who says Christmas trees have to be pine?

It’s day 2 of #vlogmas2024 and I am wanting to talk a little bit about poinsettias.

Poinsettias, often called the 'Christmas flower,' are vibrant plants native to Mexico.

Their striking red, white, or pink leaves (called bracts) are often mistaken for flowers, but the true flowers are the tiny yellow blooms at the center. Named after Joel Poinsett, the first U.S. ambassador to Mexico, they’ve become a holiday favorite for adding festive cheer to homes and celebrations. 🎄✨ #PoinsettiaFacts #HolidayPlants
