GUYS DO U KNOW WHAT I FOUND??
I wrote this like short story in the style of an epic (the poem style not the musical 😂) for literature a little while ago when we were reading the odyssey and it was about Telemachus and Penelope. AND NOW READING IT AGAIN THROUGH THE LENSE IF HAVING SEEN EPIC ITS KINDA CRAZY.
Here’s some snippets.

Telemachus: “She had done so much for him
But what he truly yearned for was his father. He wanted to meet this 
Myth of a man he was expected to live up to.”
(I am neither man nor mythical)

Penelope:
“Every thought held her captive in her mind. She had
No one to confide in, no one to turn to, all her tears
Were spilled alone in silence. Thoughts, fears, and
Worries consumed her being from the moment 
She awoke, to the moment she passed into peaceless
Void of Sleep. No matter how hard she prayed to the 
gods, unease and restlessness filled her soul. 
When would it end? When would the gods save
Her and end her suffering?”
(I can take the SUFFERING from youuu)

Antinous:
“We were just about to participate in some sports! 
Why don’t you join us?” Antinous exclaimed. 
“I don’t feel like it today, especially not with you. You
Overstay your welcome and yet you do not leave.” Telemachus answered coolly. 
“You never play the games with the men. Come on, boy!” 
Telemachus’s eyes flashed, “I’m not a boy.” 
“Of course you are. You are your mother’s little child. 
You're soft because of how you’ve been raised by her.
She’s a deceiving little thing, we know how she undoes 
The tapestry at night, and even when it was finished,
She refuses to pick a suitor. She avoids us the same 
way you avoid a fight!” Antinous mocked.
Telemachus stiffened in anger, “Be careful what you 
Say about the woman you’re trying to marry, Antinous.”
“I will say whatever I please. She will have to choose 
One of us eventually. You groan and complain about 
How we overstay our visit and eat all your food. It would
All end if she would just choose a husband! Now will
You be joining us or not?”
ITS BASICALLY “when’s your tramp of a mother gonna choose a new husband” and DONT YOU DARE CALL MY MOTHER A TRAMP” but a little less dramatic and more formal 😂 haha sorry for the long post…

K I feel like I need to explain what I mean by the “epic ody different than regular Ody” video. 😂 I don’t know all this lore like calypso using magic to keep Odysseus with her, all I know is what I read in the odyssey (which I don’t remember her using magic).

I wasn’t specifically referring to Circe either, she was just an example of all the very different stuff that happened with Odysseus compared to epic. But Ody was NOT a victim to Circe, the gods told him he had to, to save his men. Which isn’t his fault. What I DIDNT like was how he seems completely fine with it, he’s basically just like “ok.” 😭 And with calypso, the vibes I got from the book was their relationship was pretty mutual… yeah he obviously didn’t want to at first but something must’ve been fine with him eventually bc in the book theres a line that says he really wants to leave since calypso “no longer pleased him”, he didn’t want to be with her anymore. Idk, that’s what I got from it.

To me his entire personality is just so much less honorable than in Epic. No hate to ppl defending him, I’m not trying to say he’s some awful character, I’m just noting some differences between the two. I know I’m not qualified as a Greek scholar, but I did read the book so can I mean I at least know a bit. 🥲😂
