have you guys ever seen a post/video and like "wow that's cool!" so you wanted to make a short meme about it, so you start searching for some meme templates and music that might fit with the scenario, and when you come back the thing refreshes and you just can't find that post/video again so now you're just scrambling to find it. Then at one point you just start assuming the post/video was spreading misinformation probably because it was probably too good to be true and losing that post was actually a GOOD thing?????

so i was recommended a video of that "Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls" thing that ‪@SplattedCrepe‬ really likes and so i decided to do a lil research and here's what i found

it was a toyline of dolls created by the person that made MLP: FIM and owned by Hasbro
it was gonna have a show, but was rejected in favour of MLP: FIM and because Hasbro was still somehow in that "girlz r stoopid" mentality that was the reason Arcee's inclusion in 1986 was an uphill battle
it was about a buncha planets as girls
it had a website that i thought was very charming (what can i say, i'm a sucker for 2000s-early 2010s web design)
it only had a couple pieces of media made of it
it has a really dedicated fanbase that's somehow still active today (more than i can say for Epic Mickey despite Rebrushed 💔)
it was briefly trending in 2021 on Twitter
the creator redesigned them back in 2021 because of Twitter and it recieved mixed reception
the fans are still grieving the loss of the series


also, last night i had a dream about the series after researching about it so... that's odd


so what's my takeaway from this?


as a TF fan, i think it's fair that we must work together to 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯 𝘏𝘢𝘴𝘣𝘳𝘰

a recent analysis i've made

it feels like we've collectively replaced the word "cringe" with "corny"

a lot of shit i see with people calling others "corny", "cornballs" are very similar to how people called others "cringe" or "cringy"

i've already said it in my rant about TikTok/Insta Reels culture, about how they just LOVE that word, and how my breaking point off Twitter was people harassing me and calling me corny for defeding FNF songs with mid-lyrical sections (pre-Silly Billy and Aethos era btw)

hell, even here you'd see comments calling others corny. Or those "Insta Reels comments roasting the corniest posts" videos which are just the new cringe compilations imo

or what about people digging up old posts and memes for the sole purpose of calling that person, and the post corny? like what happened with whatsupbeanie with the Food Stance comic, or the Joker Dax Open Verse/Clock strikes 12 midnight arrvies thing? (atleast the people involved with the Joker ones were not bothered and went along with it. Even birthed the whole FNAF Open Verse trend which is funny as hell, and is an unironic celebration of FNAF as a series)

cringe culture might be dead... but the idea lives on, reincarnated
