Hey, I’m Cici. I started this channel talking about makeup history — how beauty, culture, and tech shape the way we see ourselves. But these days, I talk about whatever I’m curious about.

Sometimes that’s a story from history, sometimes it’s a new tech trend, or sometimes it’s just me figuring things out on camera. I’ve worked in Hollywood hair and makeup for years, and I love connecting those behind-the-scenes worlds with bigger conversations about art, identity, and change.

If you like storytelling that makes you think (and maybe laugh a little), you’ll fit right in.

I made a video, hated it… might upload anyway. The caption says “cozy”, but what I really meant is “chaos”… are we in a retrograde? What is happening?

Reminded today of my love for Marlon Brando— a pioneer in more ways than one. Having his likeness digitized in the 1980’s by VFX artist and cinematographer Scott Billups using the latest tech of the time: Cyberware. The tech was meant to be used in a film that Billups was hoping to produce, aptly named “Software”.

Here in the documentary film “Listen to Me Marlon” we can clearly see the digital mesh of Marlon’s face speaking and making expressions which are quite close to meshes I’ve seen in the creation of Metahumans in the gaming world.

I am curious where those files are today, if they will be dug up and used in the future to revive Mr.Brando for future films, games and other digital entertainment and what he would say if he could see how far technology has come today.

What are your thoughts? Was Marlon wise to have preserved his face for future use?

Oscar-winning makeup legend Greg Cannom leaves behind a legacy of iconic film monsters and movie magic. His body of work speaks for itself, but he may best be known for bringing to life the undead—🧛having worked on the Lost Boys, Fright Night 2, and Blade. ✨ I was never lucky enough to meet Greg in person, but my first “big break” in Hollywood was working the press junket circuit for the movie “Benjamin Button”, for which he won Best Makeup at the Academy Awards (2009). That was the first time I could put a face to the many works and characters I grew up loving. “The Mask” was a favorite in my household. Rest easy, Mr. Cannom. 💐

Turkish archaeologists made a significant discovery in Kutahya, Turkey, unearthing 2,000-year-old makeup products, perfumes, jewelry, and more near the ancient city of Aizanoi. The makeup items featured predominantly red and pink colors, with ten different pigment hues.

Aizanoi, located 57 kilometers from Kutahya, flourished during the second and third centuries AD and played a central role in the Byzantine era, as per the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Recent excavations around the Temple of Zeus revealed multiple layers of settlement dating back to 3000 BC. In 133 BC, it came under Roman rule and was later rediscovered by European travelers in 1824.

From 1970 to 2011, the German Archaeology Institute uncovered various structures, including a theater, stadium, public baths, bridges, and more. Turkish archaeologists have continued the work since 2011, and this year, the excavations were transferred to the Kutahya Museum Directorate.
