Whoever thought of inventing the external hard drive, the most popular choice for backing up data, in the form of a tiny, fragile machine that can just fail at any moment without so much as a change in room temperature, misuse, or inapprorpriate way of quiting the drive/disconnecting it!?? If you need data recovered it takes thousands of dollars over many years! Uploading files to an online storage service takes days, slowing down your computer, itself slowly dying from the strain! And if you need more space you have to pay an additional $50 per month? If you use a drive app, it eats up your storage with cache files, and may not be secure!
My god. How do major companies keep retaining digital files for more than 15 years?!!

I have been getting a handful of donations in response to my crazy data recovery problem. I cannot thank you all enough! I got an email from the service who said things appear to be going great, and they will send me a follow-up with an estimate for when I can pick up the drives. This is life crushing. Whole instrustries, lives, communities, jobs, property, businesses were made and sustained because of anime licenses and dubs! If Amazon makes AI dubbing the standard, there goes the way of life for hundreds of thousands of people.
okay. ... bad news. I'm gonna be serious. Two of my external drives died and one has hardware failure. I may have to ask for a crowdfund to make up the unexpected loss. I can't afford more financial losses, I am getting no well paying jobs anymore, and I will have to delay getting a new whole computer now. I never had to ask for money like this online before, but things are as unstable and dangerous as they ever been. If you can't contribute, that's totally fine, but please spread this around.
