Dear friends, I have a request to make and a boundary to set.
This post is not because of any one person. It's because of a repeating pattern.
I struggled with what to say because I don't want to make anyone feel ashamed or uncomfortable, but part of my healing means putting my feelings first.
In that spirit, there's some things I need to say...
I am here to do my job and to help people. I am not here looking for dates or relationships. If that is your intention, please do not contact me.
Please do not make comments about my appearance. I don't find it flattering, I find it uncomfortable. I didn't ask for feedback on my appearance and I'm not interested in your opinion on it.
There are countless, ethical reasons why life coaches should not date clients, but beyond that, I'm simply not interested. Whether you're a client or not.
I offer free sessions so that people can decide if my coaching feels helpful or not. Instead, some people are using this to fulfill an unmet need for attention or to abuse my contact information already knowing that they will never pay for a session. For this reason, I am considering removing this free-first-session offer.
I would encourage anyone with this line of thinking to look at their needs for connection and seek healthier ways to meet them. Transference does happen in the counseling field and it's important to recognize it, but It is also not healthy to work with a therapist or coach who you are romantically attracted to, especially if you are going to act on that attraction in any way.
There was a time when the fear of this happening would have stopped me from ever becoming a coach or making a Youtube channel, but thankfully the people I've been able to help make these difficulties worth it.
Do not contact me unless you are specifically interested in life coaching, if you have something relevant to say about a topic I'm discussing, or other matters of healing. If you're looking for anything else, the answer is no.
TLDR; Please stop trying to date me I have work to do.
