From north of the 49th parallel, we break down American politics with a clear Canadian perspective.
This channel delivers fast, fact-based political Shorts often once a day covering breaking U.S. headlines, scandals, and debates, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and fairness over partisanship.
Why should Canadians care about U.S. politics? Because decisions in Washington ripple across our border, impacting trade, security, climate, and culture. From the latest scandals to policy debates, we bring context that Americans often overlook and Canadians rarely hear.
If you want a balanced, outsider’s view of America’s most pressing political stories, subscribe to North of 49 Politics.
As always, feel free to comment and disagree, or agree with the videos we make.

It appears Jane Smith has been set free from the Family First Credit Union in Saginaw, Michigan. Personally this is a sad day. I would have liked to have seen Smith apologize more directly to Canada and understand her “joke” may have been funny to her, but her timing was off during September 11 ceremonies and a trade war ongoing between Canada and the USA. Smith should not have been terminated. Wishing Smith the best of luck in her future endeavours. Your thoughts?

Do you think Canada was insulted or should we just get on with the job of negotiating and stay quiet?

Is there any truth to the statement that Canadian citizens pay more to the royal family than UK citizens?
Read that somewhere but can’t find it.
Can anyone help out here?

Have a watch of the latest video that compares Carney’s leadership to Trump’s and leave a comment on what you think? It’s important to hear everyone’s opinion on this topic so don’t be shy. We’re all paddling in the same canoe so we might as well get where we need to go.
