I feel like an open-source mascot would’ve worked better as a protest symbol than Clippy. (You’re free to still keep using him, and I might even use him myself, but I’m merely suggesting an alternative.)

Take Libbie for example. She’s from LibreOffice, which is software similar to Microsoft Office except it’s free and open-source and not spyware and not maintained by a guy who had actively hung out with Epstein.

The main purpose of the AI Age Verification protest is that Google is not giving its users the freedom they deserve. Microsoft plays no part in fighting against this cause, and would probably even support Google’s decision. GAFAM is not your friend.

I don’t hate Clippy in the slightest, he’s a really good mascot. I just want to make sure people aren’t glazing Microsoft as if they’re any better than Google.

“Clippy just wanted to help!” provided that you hand over a hefty fee for a Windows license, a lot of your personal data, and then more hefty fees for Microsoft Office’s subscription model.

(I’m aware this is Microsoft’s fault at hand, not Clippy’s. I’ve never seen Clippy snitch on software pirates.)

Libbie will help you AND she will expect nothing in return. She’s not in for the money nor is she snooping around in your PC gathering data to sell. Libbie gives you full control of your office the instant you download the software.

Free and open-source software is a step in the right direction if you want to ACTUALLY protest big companies.

YouTube how hard is it to fucking implement a feature to avoid fucking recommending me spoilers for a game or show whether it’d be Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 or TADC Episode 6!?

(I’m waiting until tomorrow to watch it because I need to be in the mood for TADC. As for Deltarune, I don’t see the point in buying the game if most of the value in Deltarune are the surprises that the internet spoils almost instantly.)

Oh, I think I understand now. YouTube avoids giving the users an option to blacklist recommendations because they don’t want users to blacklist common advertisers or whatever YouTube wants to shill nowadays even though a blacklist blocking specific keywords isn’t the same as an adblocker!!

YouTube will ruin a user’s experience in any and every way if it means they can continue to get more money to monopolise more.
