Are you frustrated by what seems like a lack of grassroots solutions to the world's problems? Do you yearn for "somebody", perhaps a nerdy, aspie blonde in his half bedroom-half lab and workshop, to lead the way in researching sustainable technologies, alternative ways of doing things, and educating people, all in a highly decentralised, DIY fashion?

Then look no further!

As a vehicle for this, I have created Edenia, an idea for a non-profit organisation which specialises in researching technologies and methods that are sustainable, and empower local individuals and communities to take control of their own production. This channel presents ideas of at-home/DIY production, and educates people about alternative technologies, and sustainable principles, such as circular production and design for disassembly.

All of this, packed into a series (and philosphy!) known as "Doing It Ourselves!"

Hi All.

So I should probably let you know what's going on. Don't worry, it very much is not disappointing.

Essentially, a week ago I left my day job due to a previously arranged layoff. While this means for a while I have minimal income (don't panic, I have enough runway for a while), it means I'll have ample time to produce content and work on my projects.

I'm currently taking a well deserved extended break, to rest, and to allow some major renovations to take place at my residence.

Once all is finished, I will crack on once again!

I look forward to launching this "Phase 2" of Edenia and all the exciting stuff that will bring.

Hey everyone!

For those unfamiliar, I have been carrying out a project to try and turn algae into fuel. Why? Because algae is a highly renewable material that can be grown almost anywhere, and additionally is one of the most potent CO2 sinks known.
I have made a series of videos accompanying this, and so far, I have started a new Algae culture, and experimented with different ways to boost growth.
This time, I delve into the process of harvesting the biomass, as well as attempting to extract the lipids from it, which is a crucial step for making things such as Biodiesel.
