Welcome to the channel. This is a series of videos where I try to catalogue as many species as possible around our local bog near Clonberne Co Galway.
With luck we can give this area some protection from the threat of windmill farms or anything else that will destroy Irelands heritage.
Also it is a channel where I hope to show how Ireland is an amazing, beautiful and magical place, with a rich history and wonderful wildlife.
Let's all protect our environment before it's gone forever.
All footage is taken on and around our local bog.

A beautiful pipistrelle bat near Clonberne bog.
An older photo but important because they're a protected species.

Ireland's wonderful wildlife
The red soldier beetle or the bloodsucker beetle (a very misleading name) is common around our bogs but it is only common as long as the entire biodiversity acts in unison. The carrier pigeon was common as was the dodo but as soon as animals or their environments are exploited then extinction can be just around the corner.

Ireland's wonderful wildlife
The common buttorwort has blue-violet, flowers with lobes of lower lip diverging, a pale throat patch and a pointed spur. Flower stems 6-18cm tall and stalkless leaves covered with sticky glands to trap insects. Overwinters as rootless bud
