Hey, time travelers!
I’m heading down to Helen, Georgia tonight—camera in hand, ready to capture as much of this magical little town as I can. If you’ve never been, Helen feels like a Bavarian village dropped right in the North Georgia mountains, and during the holiday season it’s pure Christmas-card perfection. I’ve decided it’s time to lean into filming more of these charming, real-deal small towns that still exist and that any of you can actually visit. And if you can't, well at least you can watch my tours of them.
As 2025 winds down, I realized I’m sitting on 18 finished travel videos I never got around to editing and posting. Eighteen! That felt insane, so even if the algorithm throws a tantrum and buries my channel for a bit, I’m done letting them collect digital dust.
Over the next few weeks I’ll be dropping a bunch of them—some of my favorite trips from this year - and even before - and I really hope you love watching them as much as I loved filming them. (In fact, I’m wrapping up the final edits on one right now before I hit the road.)
2026 is going to be a big year. I’ve got some exciting plans to make the channel stand out even more in a world drowning in AI-generated noise. I can’t wait to show you what’s coming.Stay tuned—and there’s a decent chance I’ll hop on LIVE tomorrow from Helen itself!
Safe travels,
Scott

Want to know why so many YouTube videos feel soulless and unreliable lately, especially the ones with those robotic AI voices?
It’s because the scripts are 100% generated by ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, or some other large language model.
These tools are fantastic for quick research or tightening up phrasing, but when people use them to write the whole thing from scratch, problems explode. Especially when the Creators are not like me - someone with a genuine interest in the subject matter. These Creators are simply riding the crest of the wave of whatever is popular.
I’ve tested them extensively, and here’s the ugly truth: they make s%*! up constantly.
They invent facts, dates, quotes, and entire events with total confidence.
Even when you explicitly tell them “only use verified information and cite real sources,” they’ll happily fabricate references that look legitimate but don’t exist when you check.
Worse, I’ve seen channels straight-up steal my own research: they rip the audio from my videos, transcribe it, feed it to ChatGPT with the prompt “rewrite this in your own words,” and then slap an AI voice on top.
The result? My original work comes out distorted, sprinkled with brand-new fake details that ChatGPT just made up because it “sounded right.”
It’s not just lazy; it’s deceptive. Viewers have no idea they’re being fed a mix of recycled content and confident-sounding falsehoods.
YouTube (and every platform) needs to step up and require clear disclosure whenever AI writes or significantly rewrites a script.
A simple label like “Script generated/substantially rewritten by AI” would let people decide how much trust to give the video.
Right now it’s the Wild West, and the audience is paying the price with misinformation disguised as entertainment.

Hey, fellow time travelers.
I have been reaching out to others on YouTube who produce similar videos like mine for see about collaborating once and awhile.
Are there any channels you want to watch but you simply can’t deal with their horrible narration? That happens to me a lot!
Who else do you watch? Are they actually real or are they AI Narrators?
How can you spot the difference?
Btw, what do you think about how fake narrators (chosen from a drop down menu!!!) are taking over YouTube?
Do you turn off videos that obviously use AI-generated narrators or are you okay with it if you really want to watch?
Let me know the names of the channels you like and who the hosts are. Maybe I’ll reach out to them.
Btw, isn’t Merlin adorable? He is a Norwegian Forest Cat.
Thanks!
Scott

Hey, everybody!
What ideas do you have for videos you wanna see?
I know New York City inside and out. Historic apartments and gilded age mansions are my specialty. But I also love the Gilded Age mansions around New York, including Rhode Island.
And I of course love homes in Southern California built during the Golden Age of Hollywood. These subjects alone are enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life.
I also want to start producing podcast-style videos for sleep and relaxation. I’ve been working on one that is basically me talking about the Dakota for 3 hours! Whatchya think? Would you listen to that?
This is a team effort. I am always open to your ideas.
Soooooo let me know whatchya thinkin’ ‘cause I really wanna know.
Safe travels!

Great news, everybody! I am NEVER producing a video about Elvis or Graceland ever again!
Holy freakin’ cow!!! What a bunch of flops they all were! I had no idea there was so little interest!
And that is too bad because Graceland and the museum are really cool, and I know most people will never get a chance to go there as I was able to.
But hoky duck, ya’ll didn’t wanna see any of it. Sheeeesh!
Come on, everybody! You hurt my feelings. I am NOT an AI Narrator, ya know! I’m an actual human.
Couldn’t you just click play and turn the volume off when doing something else? Something? Anything? I really needed those views. Last Elvis video didn’t even get 500 views! You left me stranded out here all by myself! I thought we were in this together.
Oh, well. At least the Clark Mansion video is doing well. You watched that, right?
From now on I’m sticking to more Strange History of Gilded Age mansions and stuff. I even have some more Dakota videos coming down the pike!
So don’t wander too far!
Happy holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans, and a very Happy Thursday to everyone else around the world!
Thank you for subscribing, watching, and supporting this channel. We especially want to thank all the MEMBERS here on YouTube and Patreon.
We wish we produced more videos this year. We certainly wanted to. The honest truth is that these long-form videos are an enormous amount of work, and right now I’m still doing 100% of the editing of the long videos myself.
The good news is that we are actively building a team so we can ramp things up and bring you way more of the content you love.
What we need most right now are skilled video editors who can help turn raw footage into the polished, in-depth videos you’re used to seeing here. And if you’re an expert on the topics we cover and want to get involved — whether that’s writing scripts, supplying rare images, designing thumbnails, or bringing any other talents to the table — we’d love to hear from you. Drop me an email at StrangeHistoryX@gmail.com and let’s talk about how we can work together.
Thanks again for your patience and support. With your help (and hopefully some new teammates), 2026 is going to be our greatest year yet!

I'm honestly a little surprised—both personally and as a creator—that my Graceland videos haven't racked up way more views. Elvis Presley was once the most famous person on the planet, and in many ways, he still is. The fact that anyone can step inside his home and experience it exactly as it was in the 1970s is genuinely incredible.
I’ve got a few more videos in this series I’m excited to share, and then I’ll move on to new adventures. But I loved every second of visiting Graceland, and I’m convinced most people would too if they gave them a chance.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s watched so far—your support means a lot.
More Graceland - and other amazing - content coming soon!
Thank you!

I am heading to Helen, Georgia in a few weeks to shoot some travel videos to share with you all. Have you been there? It is a unique mountain town in Northeast Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains, famous for its Bavarian Alpine-themed architecture, German-style shops, and this cool castle-themed hotel. I was actually hoping to stay there but they don’t accept American Express which is kinda weird so I’ll stay elsewhere.
I am also going to Charlotte, NC to shoot videos at some historic 19th century former plantations. I will be staying at the former Duke Mansion which is now a boutique hotel. I’ll be shooting a video about that, too.
I am very excited about shooting more travel videos of historic places to share with you. I am looking on going on some train trips in the mid west next spring. Maybe sooner. Any recommendations?

It’s fascinating that Elvis is buried at Graceland along with his closest relatives.
According to state law the property is open for free for 1 hour per day. I think at 7:30 am. Had I known, I would have gone then.
One thing that Graceland should do is allow 1 person at a time to go to the grave - and also to be able to stand in certain places on the property - one at a time - so people can take photos without a zillion people in the shot.
