These photos were taken two years apart.

In 2024, CoolWhip was a seasoned service dog.
Just last week, Denver walked into his very first real doctors appointment with me.

The transition from a seasoned service dog to a newbie can be challenging in ways you don’t always expect.

But I try to stay grounded in gratitude for the journey. Denver stands on CoolWhip’s shoulders. I’m a better trainer now than I was when I started with her, and I have her to thank for that.

And one day—hopefully many, many years from now—my next service dog will stand on Denver’s shoulders, and I’ll be better still.

Grateful for them both. 💜

If you’re wondering who is behind the screen liking your comments and responding back, it’s always me, Laura! (Occasionally CoolWhip if she steps on my keyboard 😅)

Last year I responded to more than 2k comments just on my YouTube videos alone. While I can’t respond to every comment because I get thousands, I do my best to take time every week to read them and respond to what I can, and I always appreciate the support! Comments and likes help my videos reach a wider audience, so thank you for being a part of helping the channel reach those who can benefit from it!

Here’s to finally reaching my 100k subscriber goal in 2026 after a decade of making videos! Currently at 84k so just 16k more subs to go! 😏🤪

It never really occurred to me to celebrate years of friendship—or friendiversaries—because

1. I’m terrible with dates (and celebrating things in general), and
2. most of my friends have been in my life since elementary or middle school, or I met them while working with guide dogs. I keep a pretty small circle.

But on a hike yesterday, Casey—my friend, incredible trainer colleague, and brand-new human mom—@inspiration_canine reminded me that next year marks our 10-year friendiversary.

We know because our dogs have been hiking buddies since the very beginning. We met all those years ago when they were just pups. Swipe to see a photo of them as babies, and another from yesterday 🐾

Over the years, Casey has taught me so much about dog training. We’ve worked for each other in different capacities, collaborated on projects, and—most importantly—spent countless hours together in woods and fields. She’s undoubtedly made me a better, more informed, and more well-rounded person.

So here’s to the friends we meet who share our very specific brand of dog obsession—and end up sharing our life with us, too.

Did you know that John Denver’s litter theme was cheese? 🧀

Denver’s been with me for just over a year now! Any guesses for what type of cheese Denver was in his litter? I’ll put a hint down below if no one guesses :)

Sunrise over Denver

We made it to Colorado and had the pleasure of exploring this 400 acre off-leash dog park this morning at sunrise.

Next we're headed to southern Utah to do some off-grid exploring!
