Are you seeing double?
Nope! Just siblings!
But who is who? Can you tell?

(We had the chance to meet up with Denver's sister while we were in Denver and the two had a blast playing with eachother!)

After finishing Denver’s BN last month I wanted to take some time to clean up his heeling but then @evil.eve.the.first invited me to compete with her in California so we took a break from being feral desert witches to attend an AKC Obedience competition smelling strongly of campfire.

Denver earned his first Novice A pass with a 191 and 1st place. It was so nice to get to hang out and stress and feel like vomiting with such a fun person to do so alongside.

P.S. we lost all of our points in heeling so I should probably clean that up.
P.P.S. Someday my heeling will look like @evil.eve.the.first

If I’ve been given anything worth keeping in this life, it’s the memories of following good dogs into wild places.

“That dog loves his mama!”
That’s the compliment the judge gave us 🥹

Denver earned his Beginner Novice obedience title today with three 1st place finishes and scores of 198.5, 198 and 197.5 - but more importantly, he’s happy to be there, happy to step into the ring with me.

He is my A dog, my first obedience dog. And we’re both finding a lot of joy in the challenges that competition obedience presents.

Denver also earned his advanced rally title on Friday. We don’t specifically train in rally, but fortunately the skills are pretty much all the skills Denver has learned for service work, so it’s fun to play occasionally, especially to give him a chance to check out a new facility.

Overall a fun weekend up in MA - thank you Wampanoag Obedience Club!

The boy goes in for his OFAs today!

P.S. I’ll be doing a full length video showing our BN run with commentary on my channel soon!

As a 2nd birthday present to me, Denver earned his 4th and final pass for his Junior Hunter title!

It’s been quite the journey training for a sport I’d never done before, and I’m pretty proud of this one. Last year, we struggled with dropped ducks and Denver messing with them, so I gave him 9 months off to grow up and mature while I worked on rebuilding his retrieve specifically with ducks. (His general retrieve has always been pretty solid.)

I had to break the behavior down and approach it from a few different angles, but it all came together in his first—and last—run of the year: no dropped ducks and 4 beautiful retrieves to hand. I’m so proud of this guy for letting me puzzle it out and learn and grow together.

(The gift for me is that I can get the dead ducks out of my freezer - Denver is officially retired from hunt testing so we can focus on our other sports that take up less freezer space 😂)

My baby girl turned 10 this week 😭

My princess, my baby dog, my queen b*tch. This silly, quirky, opinionated girl has taught me so much about patience, love, and dog training. You’ll never have to wonder what she’s thinking because her expression will always tell you everything you need to know.

Her and I are twin souls - and our best selves when we’re wild and free.

Love you my little lemur-hyena 💜

P.S. she’ll probably be the only girl dog I ever have 🤣

Example of management from today’s livestream: using a platform to help hold position at obedience run-thrus when all those good scents are calling his name. This helps set the dog up to be successful!
