It never really occurred to me to celebrate years of friendship—or friendiversaries—because
1. I’m terrible with dates (and celebrating things in general), and
2. most of my friends have been in my life since elementary or middle school, or I met them while working with guide dogs. I keep a pretty small circle.
But on a hike yesterday, Casey—my friend, incredible trainer colleague, and brand-new human mom—@inspiration_canine reminded me that next year marks our 10-year friendiversary.
We know because our dogs have been hiking buddies since the very beginning. We met all those years ago when they were just pups. Swipe to see a photo of them as babies, and another from yesterday 🐾
Over the years, Casey has taught me so much about dog training. We’ve worked for each other in different capacities, collaborated on projects, and—most importantly—spent countless hours together in woods and fields. She’s undoubtedly made me a better, more informed, and more well-rounded person.
So here’s to the friends we meet who share our very specific brand of dog obsession—and end up sharing our life with us, too.

A little about Blythe:

Did you know that John Denver’s litter theme was cheese? 🧀
Denver’s been with me for just over a year now! Any guesses for what type of cheese Denver was in his litter? I’ll put a hint down below if no one guesses :)

Sunrise over Denver
We made it to Colorado and had the pleasure of exploring this 400 acre off-leash dog park this morning at sunrise.
Next we're headed to southern Utah to do some off-grid exploring!

80k subscribers on YT! Thanks yall for making it happen!
My big audacious goal is 100k subs in 2026 to celebrate a decade of DOGGY•Us free resource library. (That’s right - I’ve been at this for 10 years!).
I appreciate all of you who share my YouTube links with friends, boop that thumbs up button and comment on my videos. All of that engagement is how the channel has grown so much over the last 9 years!
And while subscriber count is admittedly just a vanity number, after doing this for a decade, I do want to hang that shiny silver play button on the wall someday 😂
And a big thanks to my @patreon folks. You all are truly what make all the free resources possible. Without you, I couldn’t do this job that I love! 💜

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
- Winnie the Pooh
Yesterday was Jake’s gotcha day. He would have been 16. It’s been 4 months since he passed and I really miss him. He was such a good dog. 💔
I’m so incredibly grateful for my Patreon members who make it possible for me to take a few lighter work days when I’m not feeling well or life things need my attention. I appreciate you all so much. 💜

Denver took his first trip to college last week where we met up with another guide dog in training and showed them around my alma matter!
These types of training trips are awesome for working around large crowds that include lots of novelty including big backpacks, scooters, busses and more! Denver also got to practice settling with another service dog that he had never met, and I was most proud of how well they worked together.
If you’re looking for a great spot to train, check out your nearest college or university where you can check a lot of boxes all at once!

After our last hunt test in May I decided to take a break from ducks to work on a more formal retrieve and hold with Denver off of ducks. Two weeks ago I brought ducks back into the equation and on a whim decided to sign up for his next junior hunt test.
I am so pleased with the results of our retrieve training and today Denver earned his second JH pass.
Good work Sunshine! ☀️ 💜🦆
Big thank you to Yankee Golden Retriever club, the judges and volunteers for putting on a great event!
